Basic website needs

hey guys
How are you?
I am planning to make a website and starting a journey for it but as I am a newbie I need to know certain things.
Firstly I know
Hosting is needed
Domain is needed
Wordpress
But what I wanna know is what are the other things needed to rank a particular website
For example great blog post
Also is there anything I am missing?
What are the small important things that really results in a good rank
What are the things that I am missing?

Back links and low competition long tail KW's ;)

Many more things though, like your content needs to be google friendly and easy readable, you can install the free YOAST plugin to check it a bit, your site needs to load fast, you can achieve this with WP super cache among a couple other things.

You can check your speed using the closest server on https://tools.pingdom.com/

Step by step you learn bit by bit building your knowledge :) it's a marathon not a sprint ;)

First of all you have to make sure that your website is indexing on google or not if it is not then update your site map and robots.txt file and main factor for ranking is your website On page if it is not good then your website is useless.
 
Great content and great backlinks. Truly that simple. Sometimes easier said than done though. :)

If I use Wordpress,

With Wordpress you won't need to bother about indexing, that's automatic. But you will need to install a bunch of WordPress plugins to make sure your blog is well optimized (SEO wise) and social media friendly as well. YOAST plugin as mentioned by @Billy Batts is a must. If you are having an image/ video rich blog plugins to optimize the media content are a must have. Add a free social media plugin to the list as well.

Also if you wish to monetize the blog, get a logo done professionally; and do create social media profiles for your blog and post on them regularly.

Well, this guy should probably start everything with niche/keyword research to find what is out there that he COULD rank or run PPC to. Too many people blindly pick a niche because they "like it" and it turns out to be extremely high competition.

Below are the important factors when you are going to host your website and going to perform SEO of it -

1. Use the high value keywords.
2. Unique and Quality contents
3. Quality backlinks
4. Never copy the content
5. Use best title tag
6. Perform on-Page and off-page SEO
7. Internal linking
8. Use of meta tags, meta description, title tag
 
Hey Mr. Chicken! I totally give you respect for reaching out and searching for answers. I would suggest you take a solid 40 hours at least and do nothing but read everything in this forum you can find that is pinned, as well as anything you can find about the topic of earning money online. There is a university of information here. Once you do that you will have all you need to take serious action and make good beginner decisions. Once you do that you can come back and have serious questions about how to take the next step which the veterans here will be more than willing to give you guidance on.
 
First, do a good research on the keywords, competition. How profitable it is, what are others in the niche doing, how they monetize, how much effort have they put into website, how much link building etc.
Then after you have a domain and website up, you basically follow their path to get the rankings. Good on-page, optimised content, continuous link building..

Yes sir you have to use them because these are the basic needs of our website if these are not there you will never rank on google.
 
Go through other journey threads for inspiration but you can get your own started.
