No, they won't ban you for purchasing backlinks, just be sure and take the time to skim them and make sure they are targeted and remove the ones that aren't relevant to keep from dropping your ranking in the serps and your traffic flow from the individual engines.

Those algorythms tend to focus on damaging blackhat seo methods more than whitehat, however, I did notice that it effected my internal linking patterns and cause me to change direction there.
Other than that, everything is still the same for whitehat practices...as far as my business properties go.
