It seems like purposely adding typos or mispellings of your keyword anchors would make things look even more natural to the SE's since people do typo things, anyone else know if that has any effect?

It can, for those that ' search ' for the misspellings. General practice is not to missspell your keywords unless they have been used as an alternate domain at some point, as a slang version for gaining that specific word.

The practice of misspelling the keywords actually dumbs people down and leads you through the process of having to eliminate under educated tire-kickers and freebie hunters, instead of the actual people that have money to spend, which are above that level and most commonly people that are trying to use the lower end supporting income of a traditional job, to move themselves into a higher evolution of status and financial stability.

As the old saying goes, " water seeks its own level ", and it always finds it.

Establish your own personal business practice standards and keep to them for quality control and consistant representation for what people see from you.

The mainstream guys; Dan Kennedy, Frank Kern, Eben Pagan, Ryan Deiss, Brendon Burchard...the reason these guys are the heavy hitters is because most above all else - they are consistant, which makes them look/feel trustworthy to their customers.

Final word - keep in mind the end resulting customer avatar that you desire to attract and anytime you do something new, be sure to ask yourself if that ideal type of person would find you through that path, or if you are wasting your time due to pulling in the wrong crowd.

Hope that answers you question.

SEO Practices Blog is a guide to learn SEO for beginners.t has been common practice for many years to monitor overall site indexing in each of the major engines (mostly focusing on Google, naturally). Sites that weren?t being indexed deeply would need specific tactics to push that number up, and sites well indexed would be monitored closely to ensure that was sustained.

Thanks for the info. So the art is in the combination of doing all of these things and their effect on the site. Great tips!

Whenever possible include keyword anchors and title or alt tags on your backlinks. Don't always use the same anchors, vary it up a little, use 3 or 4 different keywords and even do a few with some non keyword anchors. You are trying to look as though a lot of different real people have taken a liking to your site, if it were natural then all links wouldn't be exactly the same, so you want to simulate that same type of randomness. Backlinking strategies are all about simulating the natural events that happen as a site grows in popularity. If you can do it successfully then the SE's will give you good position in the listings, and then hopefully what you are simulating can become reality. The point of all of it is to get traffic.

Sorry for the newbie question here, but I'm wondering if you can check to see if my understanding of what you're saying above is correct:

If I find a blog where I'm allowed to post a comment that has a field for "website", I would put http://www.mywebsite.com. How do I post a keyword anchor on the field?

I'm assuming that in the above example I put, it's not possible (unless the keyword is my domain name I guess), which means that I need to leave the keyword anchor in the body of the comment itself, is that right? Seems like this would require the comment to be *highly* relevant to the keyword anchor, right?

Change up your anchor text. The idea of backlinking is to simulate that masses of people are becoming interested in your site. It should have some amount of randomness to it in order to look natural. I've seen a few made up stats on what's best, but I think a good rule of thumb is maybe about 45% primary keywords, 35% secondary keywords, and about 15% random unrelated like Click Here, and then about 5% just the url. The exact percentage isn't dramatically important, it just needs to seem like the linking is natural.

Say that my client's top 3 keywords are: "Atlanta dentist", "emergency dental office", and "best dentist". I'm under the assumption that each keyword is optimized for specific pages. For instance, "Atlanta dentist" may be my keyword linked for the homepage, "best dentist" for an "about us" page, and "emergency dentist" for my "services" page. Is that the proper way to do it? Is it okay to tie one page to more than one keyword?

Since I'm only targeting 3 keywords, does the rule of thumb you mention above apply...? Should I target more than 3 instead even though the client only paid for 3 keywords?

Create relevant articles containing your keywords, include backlinks using keyword anchors, and submit to article directories. Article directories are mostly authority sites and your article becomes a relevant backlink to your site. Then create profiles and accounts on blogs, social networking sites, forums etc. Include a link to your website whenever you do that and each one of those become backlinks as well.

Once you write a great relevant article, do you then spin it and submit a different one to each directory? Or do you send the same article to different directories? Does it matter?

Lastly, what PR do you consider "high ranking"? 6-10? Or only like 9-10?

Awesome post man. Just wondering what your thoughts were on entering the actual keywords your page is targeting into the meta tags. The latest tests I've seen say that there isn't a lot of link power generated from this kind of tagging. And, I've seen some marketers snipe the keywords from competitors sites by looking at their meta tags. Of course, it would definitely be useful for helping to organize the content in the site as well as help your copywriters and content marketers when they distribute content across the Web in an effort to create strong backlinks to your site. Thoughts?
