Basic PPC Optimization Help

Hey Guys,

I am sort of new to PPC optimization game. I am now equipped with a good tracking software and good cloaker. My question is, What are the basic steps to optimization.

I understand that I should be looking for high amount of visits to my presell with low clicks out to my offer page. This would indicate high bounce rate and i should black list that source. However, is this all there is to it? Just tracking which sources have potential and narrowing in on them?

Also how much data would you say would be accurate. Lets say from one source i got 100 visits to my presell page and only 1 click out to my offer page. Would this be sufficient data to black list source, or would i need like 500 clicks per source?

Just trying to get an idea on where I should go. For the most part, I've been using a bot tracker as well to track bots and spy tools so im not paying for sources which are sending this. Any other insight on what i should be looking for besides High CTR with low CR to offer page?

PS. I have found sources which got some conversions, i'm assuming the next step would be upping my bid on these sources for more traffic?

Guess it depends on budget and accuracy wanted. 1000 clicks is a good number to get a look into analytics and results with accuracy.

I agree - 1000 clicks is needed to get any useful data.

100 is a low sample size... but it depends on your cost per click and what the others are doing. If cost the cost is high and the others are FAR out performing it then you could probably make an early judgment. Also keep an eye on how many pages each paid visitor looks at. Terms that generate more page views per visit have had a high correlation to interested buyers in my ventures even if they didn't always buy immediately. Its a nice tie breaker if nothing else.

So I will add page visit duration to my tracking so I can track which sources stay on the page longest. For the most part, theres alot of source cutting to get an optimized positive ROI campaign going i'm assuming (filtering bots, and poor publishers).

I did get some conversions, so the entire traffic source looks promising, I just have to find the right sources within.

So aside from CR from visit to click, time on page and overall cost of visit per source, Do you guys have any other parameters I should be looking at? Right now I am scoping for high bounce rate sources, since this could mean I am running on a publisher site that has nothing to do with my niche.

I also got a few conversions, so im not losing all my budget which means I have room to test quite a bit, just wanted some pointers.

Also would you guys suggest, if i find a source that sent some conversions, my best option is to increase my bid on that particular source ?
