Baidu is kicking my a**!

I'm learning that baidu definitely does not work the same as google. I've been working on a site for 6 months, that in google is doing very well, but baidu is still on the 6th page!

Site is all in chinese, targeting the chinese market.

Anyone have experince in doing SEO for Baidu?

No offence but the title made it sound like Baidu was a Guy:D
 
Google have withdrawn from Chinese market because of censorship...
BTW the most popular keyword on Google before that was... "Baidu" :)
 
yeah, they say baidu has about 65% market share here. Most markets have little competition. I have a few sites on baidu that are doing well, but this one, where there is a lot of competition is still on page 6.

Yeah, here in china, instead of "googleing" something you "baidu" it. baidu's version of adwords is much more popular than google here, but much more complicated to deal with, and you have to read chinese, and meet other criteria.

here, this is where you can submit your site, but note that your site should be in chinese. Baidu is used by local chinese searching in chinese. Generally if they are looking for something in english they will use google.

The same SEO applies to Baidu search engine. But I think it's more about keyword density than backlinks. I never had backlinks to my individual pages in Baidu search engine but I kept my keyword density high and my pages ranked very well at the time.

Alot of guru's will tell you to stay away from making high keyword density pages and those who tell you to keep your keyword density low (3%-7%) wants all the traffic for themselves. Heck, I always shoot for 7%-15% keyword density on my pages.

I will also look at your html tags to make sure its optimize for Chinese traffic.

sorry abit off topic but how do you guys do keyword research for baidu? is there a baidu version of adwords keyword tool?
 
they defiantly require some time to come near Big G Algorithm

yes, baidu has their own version of the adwords keyword tool. its inside the baidu ppc section, but you have to have a ppc account. Alternatively, you can use google keyword tool and type your keywords in chinese.
