Hi Guys,

Just wanted to get your views on building backlinks on the home page vs the inner pages. I know having them on the main page is beneficial in bumping up the overall domain rating/trust.

I was wondering whether having a backlink to one of your news posts or inner pages only gives power to that specific page and any child pages or if it still bumps up your overall domain power if only just a little.

Thanks in advance!

Hi There,

First of all, You Create backlink anywhere like Hompage and inner page but you should able to receive traffic from there

bcoz if you are reactive traffic than its ranking signal for your website,...................

Assuming you're internally linking properly, backlinks to inner pages will provide a slight boost to other pages as well.

Dont point all backlinks to homepage, its totally spam and easy to get detected by google.
Target inner pages and place some desired anchor links to homepage from those inner pages.
This technique is safe and works the best while improving your overall DA of site

Agreed, linking only to the home page is unnatural to Google and may leave a big footprint. Putting some links on the about, contact, FAQ or other key pages creates more authority across the site, and helps the pages rise in authority, like a rising tide lifts all boats.

Create back links equally for all the web pages of the website, suppose a website have 20 pages then if 50 back links created for the home page then create 50-50 back links for remaining 19 pages.

If your home page is static promoting any business or particular product then you can plan more links to home page, add internal links to home page and plan regular links to those inner pages to boost home page rankings.

If your home page is just displaying Inner pages/posts then plan links equally to all inner pages and also regular links to home page to increase DA.
So, the strategy will vary depends on how your home page is targeted. Hope it helps :)

Make a SILO Structure.... Homepage or Inner Pages will not matter as Link Juice will reach your entire Website.

I believe some backlinks should be to your inner pages. However, most of them should be to your home page in order to increase the domain rating.

That's a great read, much appreciated.

Seems like everyone has quite different views, I'll experiment around a bit and try a few comparisons. Thanks all!

Both all should be fine to improve your site traffic & trust.

Yes, these are very valuable for SEO. Even further down the line, with a robust domain, you can even rank these innerpages for all sorts of keywords and bring people to your homepage.

It depends on what page are you trying to rank.

For example, when you're trying to rank a sales page (e.g.,/services), it might be difficult to build links directly to it, so building links to other pages makes sense (e.g., a blog post).

As @Warrenway already mentioned, having a good internal linking structure is an absolute must-have so that your link juice flows from non-commercial pages (your blog) to the pages you want to rank (your sales pages).

Besides that, it's important that you randomize things a bit. Don't point 100% of your backlinks to a single page, as it might look over-optimized (unnatural) to Google.

Hope that helps :)

Yes randomizing is excellent. Or try to keep it natural and non-optimized as well.
