Backlinks - How many from one source?

I'm building backlinks safely right now, up to 5 backlinks linking through to 2-3 pages per domain. I also run a blogspot (Google Blogger) account for pinging articles, writing a little bit more on whatever I post about (if I feel like doing so), and posting images. The blog is doing surprisingly well, but that isn't the point.

There are a few posts on the main website now, and I have a ton of links to build for these pages. This isn't a shortcut, but I'm wondering if it's OK to put like 20 backlinks through to my website, from one Blogger site.
I'm honestly about to send it and have all these backlinks go through. Not to boost the number or whatever, but because it's best to link to the site from these posts I'm making. Will this hurt my site? I will give up the chance to take advantage of this opportunity to help my Blogger account if it'll hurt the main site.

Thanks. My guess was 3-5 and I've been doing it on the other sites, though I am looking at what I have to do today and it just seems best to link to the site. And not even to get those backlinks, just to offer readers a way to my site for additional reading.

Sometimes the system bites back a little bit I guess.

If you don't really care about link juice then you can go for it. Just make sure the links you want to pass juice are crawled and indexed first.
 
There's nothing wrong with having more than one link from a site to your site.

Hell, would you turn down a second and third link from Forbes, because " I already have one from there ) ?

If the referring site is a good quality site and the links are from different pages, all is good.

A site of genuine quality wouldn't offer those types of links, they'd probably be hacked in all honesty.
But nope, not what I meant. I was meaning if you got 5 links from 1 each from 5 different pages, then these can be seen as natural links.

Ok, so sitewide footer links are a big, no-no then, even if it is a quality site? Like site sponsor links?
 
Try to build those 20 backlinks from post content pages (not from Home page/sitewide links) that are related to the target site .
 
Google is looking for a "natural" backlink pattern.

If your website gets all of its backlinks from just one source, it doesn't look natural. It simply doesn't.

So at the very least, you should change the form of the anchors you use as well as mix in a lot of raw URL links.

But more importantly, you should also get links from other websites. These backlink sources must be specific to your niche.

Once you have a decent amount of niche-related backlinks, you can mix things up by getting links from unrelated sites.

The bottom line is link diversity counts for a lot and it has to look natural.

Also, you have to factor in when you get the links. So if you got your backlinks from just one source at just one time, that's a red flag.

Don't be surprised if you get a manual penalty.
