Backlinks from other countries

Hi,

I'm running a website with a specific Dutch extension (.nl). My website is also written in Dutch. When I will use links from english websites, does it help me?

Think about it. Does it make sense when an English website is sending its readers to a foreign site in a foreign language?

Fine to have a few of such links but you should focus on getting Dutch links from .nl domains.

Well, you're definitely right. Saw a lot of competitors who had some english backlinks from same niche (but english) websites. Was wondering if it might work :-)
 
It has its value but I recommend to keep it less. But the link from the same language gives more benefits like quality traffic(user's interest in content).
 
Language specific links give more traffic, so give the same language links to users comfortable.
 
I think having quality backlinks from high authority English sites would still have a positive impact on your overall SEO.
 
Yes, it works just fine, especially in EU SERPs.

The algorithm for foreign SERPs lacks in complexity compared to Google.com /.co.uk / .ca. You can use english PBNs, guest posts, link inserts, web 2.0s, even sape and local citations etc. and you can even be more aggressive with your anchor texts and your link velocity.

Obviously links from the respective country are preferrable, but saying english links don't work is just not true.
 
If the links come from authority sites, it is better to keep such links to a minimum. Not all users who come from English know Dutch, so if users come to your site, they will leave your site immediately, which is likely to generate a negative signal.

I haven't tested this myself so I can't say you're wrong, but looking at it from a realistic POV. In which scenario would an English/American website link to a foreign written site? There are probably only a handful of cases where this would be appropriate (e.g. e-commerce). And, in some niches it wouldn't even occur at all.

Imo it is kind of a easy giveaway that something fishy is up with a domain's backlinks. Even if Google doesn't notice it currently, I wouldn't be confident in these structures working in the near future.

Too many people in this thread who never tested it, and probably have no real experience in SEO. I think the people saying "nope" here, have no idea what they are talking about, they are just on the forum having opinions on everything and chat all day.

In my country, I have seen a couple of sites who are doing real good with US links. One site is based almost mainly on US links, and they are killing it in the finance niche.

My theory is that it does work, but they are of lesser value - unless it's coming from the big fishes. A few years ago I tried using crappy PBN links from here on two EU sites and I saw no real effect. I used the same type of low-quality PBNs, but native, and saw an effect.

Like Janist said, focus mainly on native links. But if you can get high quality links from US - go for it. I'm certain that it will have a positive effect.

Loads of times. E-commerce, foreign trade, collaborations, media sources, stock market connections, listings etc. A lot of transactions are done in the business world between countries and companies. It's more to it than just affiliate sites.
 
my senior seo specialist told me use same language as your money site for backlinks
 
sure it works, a link is a link. google doesnt seem to give more value to it based on language.
