Hi all, I'm currently experimenting with backling. I just have one question. Should I backlink to my homepage only? Or should I also do some backlinks to my posts? Thanks for the help. Cheers...

If you want to build domain authority, get links for homepage
If you want to build page authority, get links for your pages.

Best strategy is building it for homepage, because increasing domain authority increases the individual pages as well.
Wikipedia, without any backlinks ranking top, because of its DA.
 
When it comes to link building, both your home page and internal pages are eually important. Backlinks should be spread around your website rather than being concentrated on the homepage. So, Both are important to build backlinks. First start build home page and then move to inner page.
 
Someone said that it is important to add backlink to posts not main page. In addition, when I look at some site, I see that all of the big ones use posts. By the way, I am not a SEO Specialist or something like that.
 
You can build links to both homepage and inner pages. Building links to homepage increases your domain authority over time.

If you link to your internal post that post will be boosted in SERPs and ultimately the entire site will get benefited. So I focus more on creating links for internal pages / posts.

Whatever link profile you want to create get complete list of analysis to your keywords and extract a file based on search volume, diversify the link profile with homepage and inner page posts that works to get organic traffic.

I think I will stick with doing backlinks to the homepage for now. Last night I did a few blog comment backlinks. Unfortunately not one of them have been approved.

When it comes to blog comments should I always use the same name in the name field? Or should I use a different name for each comment that I leave? I do believe the name will become the anchor text so Im just curious...
 
Take Reuters for example, you'll see that most of their links are to posts.
So, IMO, you should do the same.
 
I think it's better to have more links to posts than to homepage 80/20

every page should have a link to the homepage, internal linking is also important, using internal linking you can get more traffic
 
It is important to build links to the homepage as well as the inner pages. It would be better if you built unique links instead of links from the same domain. Be sure to maintain a proper anchor ratio.
 
First start with homepage , when the homepage gets ranked and with good backlinks then get forward with sub pages as well .
