Just target smaller hashtags first. You can still try everything and see what works and what doesn't. But don't completely negate it.

I’ve just been doing the f/uf method it’s really easy in the babe niche to get a follow back but I’ve never thought about hitting the explore page in that niche wouldn’t it be hard?

I would focus on doing sfs on models with a small to medium audience as they are more likely to promote your post to their story

my account is on private to avoid bans, is this a good idea? It means i dont get on explore page though.
Not really sure I think its just luck, I don't use hashtags or anything like that but Instagram seems to be driven off comments nowadays.
Why would you get banned? Do you re post pictures without permission or pictures with nudity? Just don't do anything to get banned and you'll be fine.
Im at 51k followers I stopped botting completely because I think that is what will actually get you banned.

I keep my acc on private until 10k as it increases engagement. Most of the people that dont care about liking etc dont request to follow as it is to much hassle, so when i put my acc on public more engagement and better chance of going viral. It also stops the bots from following.
