Never knew Panda was named after an engineer. Guess those BST sellers will have to change their image to an Indian engineer instead of a Panda bear now ;)

Great stuff, helps to keeps things in perspective with so much garbage being published elsewhere that adds to confusion.

Scott Blanchard opened up a lot of eyes and that's the good news.

The bad news is that Google's Amit Singhal, much like Matt Cutts, is reveling in elitist narcissism concerning his engineering accomplishments much like Charlie Sheen was reveling in his acting accomplishments.

It's one thing to want to improve the SERPs but its another entirely different thing when you make yourself become the sole evaluator and your standard becomes the sole benchmark of which websites should be on the bad side of the SVM equation and which websites should be on the good side of the SVM equation.

For those wondering what Scott revealed, here is his brief synopsis:

What gets me is, a high bounce rate is actually good in numerous cases but the new SVM filter doesn't see it that way.

OK, no problem, I'm going to start strategically placing some family friendly scantily clad babes on sites to see if that will decrease the bounce rate while maintaining my CTRs, LOL.

My thoughts exactly! Google has been playing god an awful lot lately and killing many great websites in their wake. They've decided on criteria "They" feel makes a good website and have closed the door on anything that doesn't fit into that category.

Good share indeed, I had someone send that over to me earlier today as well.

A lot of my theories about Penguin, could be about this technology. I'm gonna do a little more research and make a better post about it....

Great information then, now, and several months from now.

Especially "Would you be comfortable giving this site your credit card?"

It's things like that which are so often overlooked, and they matter so much!

    Thanks for sharing this article.
