That is why i use linux for work. It is perfect for my needs. Not saying that everybody should use it, because different person has different needs. The install of a software is always at the distance of a command and for me it is great. Unfortunely i have to use windows when i want to play some games, but i still use windows 7.

I am glad I disabled Windows 7 updates a while back, no attempts at forcing me to upgrade to Windows 10!
I did upgrade to Windows 10 though, for about a week. But Windows 10 fucked up the HDMI audio whenever the computer went to sleep.

Windows 10 is, in my opinion, responsible for my wife's computer going belly up.
It worked fine until the "not-forced" update and has since been a dead dog. I ended up just buying her a new laptop as it was just never going to get up and running again.
Was it "forced" on her?
Maybe not but she is not very technical (actually less technical than me if that is possible) and had no idea it was updating and after a few hours of $@%@#%#@ asked me to see what was wrong with her machine.
The only variable was Win10.
I'm pretty sure a judge and jury would call MSFT guilty.

There never was an option to say no when it comes to updates on Windows. If you enable automatic updates on the Control Panel (with the option of automatically downloading them but warning you when to install them), then Windows will automatically download the updates and give you annoying warnings every few hours (depends on how many hours you delay the next warning) to either install them now or later - I guess Win 10 update came just like this and the only way you could have stopped it was to stop automatic updates altogether. Most people won't do that and Microsoft knows it, hence why they don't put a "no" option.
I would really like those cunts to get sued for more in court, they pissed me off with the fucking updates interrupting my whole work and I had to postpone them every fucking time until I gave up and disabled all the updates forever and I am glad I did.

BTB, a reformat with the previous version of Windows that your wife had before the "forced" update would restore everything back to normal.

I will admit that Microsoft had this coming. Everything they said in that article is true. I installed Windows 10 "voluntarily." This is after they pestered me for weeks to install it.
My computer runs a dual operating system. I have Windows 8 and Windows 10 on it. I used to have two copies of Windows 8. I updated one copy and left the other one alone. When Win 10 acts up, I switch to Win 8. I get bombarded with update requests every time I use it. It's just insane.
At one point I logged in to find that I had 2 copies of Windows 10. My Win 8 had somehow upgraded to Win 10, EVEN THOUGH I WASN'T USING IT WTF EVEN. When my computer boots up, it asks me which OS I want to use: Win8 or Win10. This time when I booted it up, it showed 2 copies of Win10. I thought maybe it was a mistake, but it wasn't.
I had to do research in order to switch back to Win 8 on one version without jacking up my computer. I'm not a techy, but I'm competent enough to follow directions. I found a video and a couple of articles through Google that helped me. I got lucky though. Seriously. Reading that article showed me I really did get lucky.
I like Win10. I really do. But the forced updates, the constant "alerts" to try Microsoft Office (a prescription service) and the general way MS is treating me like I'm stupid is really getting annoying. I'm really leaning towards disabling all my updates. There isn't even an option to select which updates I want anymore. They just automatically install without my knowledge. Then I get an alert saying that updates have been installed while in the middle of something.

I have had W10 destroy one notepad and one computer. With the notepad, running W 8.1 10 attempted to install and failed. I called up MS and they attempted to install 10 and failed. I took a ball peen hammer to the notepad.
The other computer was an older computer my wife fell in love with and I would only be able to get her off of it an on to a newer computer would be if the computer failed. W 10 attempted to install and killed the hard disc. I could have replaced the HD, but it can be a little difficult finding an IDE HD. So, I called the computer failed. I installed 10 on a newer computer, installed Classic Shell, her back up files and photos from the NAS and she is off and running. I also updated her office suite and a few other programs she uses, found alternatives for Adobe PDF suite (Foxit Pro). With Classic Shell my wife can use the computer and she has adapted well.
My primary work computer, I removed system write permissions from several directories and locked a few select registry entries and took system privileges from those entries. I run Win 8.1 with Classic Shell as the primary OS. Inside of virtual machines I run several different OS's including OSX, BSD, Kali, Debian, and Windows 10. Once I finished locking down the computer, I took the extra step of shutting off all updates. I do not recommend shutting off updates unless you really know what you are doing because you are running a risk of infection if you do not properly lock the computer down.
When people ask, I steer them away from Windows 10. I will continue to do so until MS gets their head out of their ass and they also stop attempting to track what people do on their computers. I am afraid that I will have a long wait.
