hey bhw what are some websites that you make good commission on by selling their product on your website? thanks!

Depending on what products you want to market you'll have a bunch of different places to use to hawk their wares and put cash in your pocket.
Probably the biggest marketplace would be Commission Junction, cj.com, as they have a never ending list of available businesses who use their platform for affiliates.
You would get an account with CJ first, then apply to the individual companies second.
The advertising entities will be looking to see your landing page/web site in order to approve you usually so have something in place.

do you think w/e I try to sell on my website will sell good if my webpage is lets say number 3 on google? is this my goal to get my webpage number 3 lets say?

I've never had an issue as to where the site ranked with any advertisers there; the only issues I have had relating to sites was compatibility.
Go ahead and see what is in there that you may want to market; if the advertiser turns you down you can always appeal. I do that and the success rate is fairly high after you explain how you are driving traffic, how the site ties into the products and how everyone can make money together.

alright cool but its asking for my website. how am I suppose to give them a website when I don't have any of their product to advertise around on my website.
