Surely then, there must be a way to manipulate the blog RSS feed to look like a real status update, e.g. small blog updates that are auto-posted via a small WP plugin?

There are plugins to auto post to facebook (autoposting the blog post link)

but

I don't think there is any wp-plugin to post updates from a feeds content.

Ah I see what you're saying.

Would be an interesting concept to reverse engineer, for random status updates. Might have to take a look at ping.fm, could be a future small project for myself :).

I use sendible ---- it doesnt do random, but you can set it how you like it and forget about it - really

You can use a macro program.
Delaying it in a certain amount, making it "static" as for mouse-click coordinates [In chat textbox, then on publish button]

I think you can use Ping.fm for this .... you can schedule emails and email=>ping.fm=>facebook status

Thanks guys for the info - PING.FM - looks very cool I am definitely going to test it out

another, passive way - check out "Rss graffiti" app on fb
