Authority Site SEO Case Study

Very interesting journey! I have a question though, I've noindex-follow all tags before, do you think it's good to switch them to index? any idea how to make unique description apart from edit each of it manually? I have plenty though :| And do you index your tags as well?

I have no idea how I found this case study, but good luck. This looks awesome.

Thank you for everything you have shared with us so far. I am currently working on an E-commerce website selling apparel to a certain niche. Do you still suggest building up links to the posts? I think I would have a better conversion rate by getting traffic to the home page.

Anyways, If you have any general tips at all for actual e-commerce websites with an actual brand identity, it would be greatly appreciated.

I've ranked plenty of ecommerce sites and my focus as usually been on the page where the actual product is offered. You do have to have some links to the home page, and more than one would for a typical site due to the site structure usually, but the money of an ecommerce page is on the page where one can do some choosing and that is usually on the actual product page.

I do not noindex anything at all on my sites... let the Google bot run around like a kid in a candy store has always worked well for me.

If you have not set up your categories from the get-go, you are looking at some work as far as I can tell. I don't know that there is a plugin or anything to import content there but I imagine some techie here could write a script for that but you still need the content and it should be unique.

If it was me, and it was at one time, I would plan on sitting down and grinding it out. I've done that and it is far from pleasant but that was my only option other than leaving it looking like a hill jack built it and I didn't want that.

BTB how far along are you with the content? I know you have much bigger sites but 80K words is still a shit ton! It would be nice if you can give us an ETA for the completion time.

I have been waiting anxiously for your link building phase to begin so I can leech off your game a bit :D

Thanks for keeping us posted! Cheers.

The whole purpose of this is so that guys like you, that don't mind doing a little work, can leech of the good stuff that I do and bail on the bad stuff so stay tuned.

I have around 45 articles or so live right now and am progressing nicely.

80K is not that much, it is only around 100 articles or so and that is smaller than my smallest site. The whole idea for the huge site is to be able to rank for thousands of KWs and rank for them quickly.

When you have a site that has a lot of content, and update it regularly, it gets crawled early and often and it is not uncommon for your KWs to end up on the first page of Google inside of minutes after posting.

Any chance if you can update after this recent penguin rollout :)

Nothing to speak of, Homie, no major fluctuations at all.

I'll pull some graphs up out of Serpbuddy and post them tomorrow so as to give the Penguin time to do whatever it is going to do but my sites/Kws have not moved but a spot or two up and down which is pretty normal in general.

Fantastic to hear your ranking solid, Hope people will learn more from this journey

60 Articles up total and it is time to start doing a little off site (I know you're happy to see that, Dead Joe). My approach for this site is have built 50 Web 2.0s with NO BACKLNKS. I'll have them done for me as the content does not have to be website quality content, and let them sit while I continue my efforts.

At some point I will start to add backlinks into the articles on them but not right off as I don't think that is always the best strategy and for this site it is certainly not.

I'll continue to add content on site, of course, as those are being made.

Here is a nice pic from Serpbuddy with this AM:

There are actually 33 KWs showing up in the tracking now but these are the only ones on the first and second pages at this point.

what does 50 Web 2.0s with NO BACKLNKS means? No backlinks blast to web 2.0s?

No baclkinks in the Web 2.0s; just content. No outbound links.

If there will be no outbound link from web2.0 to money site then how will it ever help you ?

I think you wrote outbound instead of inbound (supporting/tire2 ) links to web 2.0.

I think he means that he first wants the web 2.0 to age and maybe add some more articles before he adds a link to his money site. Would be strange if you get 50 links from web 2.0 websites all of sudden which only have 1 article.

that's the idea; I'll be letting those Web 2.0s get indexed and will slowly add to them as time goes on and add in links to my site then.

No rush as I only have some 60 pages on it and probably only about 50,000 words. It is still an infant.

I think he means without link to his money site, but just for now. He'll add them later.

I have another question about your Web 2.0. How many articles per web 2.0 ? Do you add more regularly after the initial batch ?

Some will have just the one, some more than one... I don't ever make them the same in terms of word/article volume. Some will have anchor text, some naked links, some just the url without a link even.

Hi BTB, some quick questions:

Are the articles on the Web2.0 sites already targetting keywords related to those on your main site and do you track them or are they just general niche-related articles?

Do you write / have a seperate article written for every web2.0 or do you write a couple (for ex. 10) and spin them?

BTB I'm amazed how you're ranking at such high spots with no backlinks. Does this usually happen with all big sites you build? What I'm trying to ask is the ranking factor coming into play solely due to the size of the site? Of course content plays a factor as well but without any SEO you're going pretty high. It might also be because you're using a stronger domain this time around. Also, what is the monthly search count and competition for those keywords?

I like the web 2.0 approach, honestly that's what I'm doing myself right now. Although, I am going to blast them.

Good job with the updates, keep them coming!

They will be articles targeting my niche and they will be all original content... no spinning at this point in the project for anything linking to me.

It does usually happen when I build sites and after they are up there and ranking for hundreds of KWs, I can add an article and it gets indexed and ranks inside of minutes.

Monthly search count and competition is here:

I have not checked the other ones that are ranking as it is really of no concern at all because I am an equal opportunity KW lover... anything that ranks from my efforts is fine by me. I was not even targeting one of those in the top 10 I show in that Serpbuddy image.

When I set up the SB account for this site, I just added in a tom of KWs that I had chosen but not targeted many of them as I only have 60 articles up.
