Time for another update!

Update 3

Stats for last week

Visits: 9’500
AdSense: 24$
Amazon: 65$ (new record!)
Expenses: 77$ (2 articles & 1 keyword)

Overall Profit

Income: 181$
Expenses: 133$

Right now, I have three articles ready. I need to rework them a bit before publication next week.

What I did last week
  • ordered an Adsense keyword and an article for it (which I received by now)
  • got an article for an Amazon keyword from @LuckyCharm007, which was done very well
  • reworked privacy and disclaimer
I'm currently looking to find reliable suppliers for all my needs. Still looking for some go-to backlink suppliers and more writers, especially for engaging content that does well on Social Media and articles that are related to Adsense keywords.

Plans for next week
  • publish three articles
  • buy some backlinks for the latest articles
  • update social media periodically
  • do some research for further projects

Nice progress on the journey so far! Quite the descent monthly traffic you're getting for a 10-12 article website. Keep it up, have fun and good luck!
 
You need to re-evaluate either the way you monetize your site or figure out what type of traffic you are receiving. Less than $100 for almost 10,000 visitors in a week is less than $0.01 per visitor and with Amazon sites you can usually earn $0.05-0.15+ per visitor unless it isn't very targeted or from the wrong country.

Just trying to help, but I'd definitely look into changing things around or figuring out why this is happening so you can double or triple your income!

Yes, that's true. This is my first project and of course I made some mistakes when I started, I probably still do. A lot of the traffic I receive is from keywords that I targeted in the very first articles. These are not keywords with a clear buying intent and unfortunately, they don't have high CPC either. But in the meantime, I got better at selecting keywords and I think that the earnings per visitor will raise in the future. If you have any tips on how to better evaluate the traffic I'm receiving and optimize the monetization for it - please feel free to share.

Amazon: 48$
Expenses: 30$ (ordered 1 article)

Overall Profit (that's one month now)

Income: 249$
Expenses: 163$

I currently don’t invest as much as I could as I’m planning to start a second project soon.

What I did last week
  • ordered a new article
  • published two Amazon articles
I read a lot about ad traffic arbitrage last week and I love to experiment with things like this. I plan to run a short test next week to test the waters while I continue to slowly grow my niche website.

Hi guys, I thought it's about time to continue reporting about my authority niche project.

Strategy Revised

After my site got hit by the last Amazon update, a lot has changed. I took a step back and revised my strategy.
  1. Instead of outsourcing everything on the markedplace, I deceided to hire people from Upwork
  2. Instead of publishing unrelated content in one general blog roll, I deceided to set up a silo structure including advanced blog post filter for each silo for better navigation and increased user experience
So I stopped publishing content and hired an web developper from Upwork to make all the necessary changes. It's been two weeks of going back and forth and we're currently finishing the final layout (I pay him around 100$ for all changes including mobile).

I plan to set up the following team:
  1. Social media guy (to slowly build up a second stream of traffic). I pay 15$ per week for 3 hours of work. He's starting the next days focusing on facebook and pinterest.
  2. Content writer (I'll hire one once I'm done with the new layout). I plan to spend around 20$ to 30$ per week on this.
Once I have published a good amount of new content I might hire someone that supports me with building backlinks (mainly web 2.0s).

I joined a SEO groupbuy for Semrush and KWfinder in order to do the future keyword reserach myself.

Income Report Q1 / 2017
  • In the first quarter of 2017 this website generated 707$, split in 40% AdSense and 60% Amazon.
  • I spent 690$, mostly on services. My biggest expenses were content with around 400$, followed by backlinks.
  • The average weekly income was 60$.

Thanks! Yes, it's 90% organic, 5% direct and 5% referral traffic. It's not a multiniche site but a site in a very big niche with a lot of different topics. Right now I mainly cover one topic (silo) and I'm setting everything up to add two more topics soon.

What length articles do you usually buy/write? What KW difficulty do you target? Just trying to get an idea of what KW difficulty you are ranking with web 2.0's.

I target keywords with a difficulty below 30 (more or less). Using KWFinder and LongTailPro. I adjust the lenght to what my competitors write. I make sure to write a couple hundred more words than them. For Amazon articles that review multiple products it's usually between 2'000 and 2'500.
