Attorney General

The customer is not going to Sue, my worry is the CA ag. Do they take legal action? But I thought that they only do this if there are hundreds of complaines, this is just one. But I think I will just shut down my po box....

They are not likely to take any action if it is just one or two person. However, try to correct whatever error with your software in order to avoid this kind of worries in the future.

Still, if there is a way, you could just try to confirm the authenticity of the letter through the address indicated in the letter sent to you.

The money has been reimbursed to the customer and that component that was missing was added to the software and sent to him as a free update via email. My main concern is that the Cal attorney general will do anything? I sent them a letter stating the money was reimbursed and the free update given, will they even bother to pursue anything? What have you guys heard or from your own experiences?

Thanks!

The attorney general needs a complaint to take action. I would definitely respond to the attorney general. No response is an omission of guilt.

Are you sure that the client that you gave a refund to is the same person that filed a complaint to the attorney general. Also, if it were a different individual, that individual would have had to first give you notice first to try to solve the problem before involving the AG. Proper notice is a big part of the law. (Of course that depends on who is complaining. The courts don't seem to care what the AGs state or federal do)
