Interesting, looks like he took a beating along with a few other sites I saw on Page 1 yesterday. I guess the niche is currently quite volatile due to it's popularity and the influx of new sites being made on a daily basis.

PBN can be the answer, but also not all tools update backlinks to site so often, and pokeymon go is new niche, with new sites, with new backlinks, so maybe wait little more.

I did a bit more digging and it turns out he also went from #1 to Page 4 for his root domain too (which was ranking at the top for another highly popular game). Maybe it had something to do with this thread.. because both the subdomain + root domain got hit (and a subdomain is separate from the root) - so maybe it was a manual review?

PBN PBN and more PBN backlinks. Hide them like hell. Share them like hell on social media. Tweet those links like you are a maniac. Build high authority newspaper/magazine links like you are on dope.

It is a hard niche to crack but worth every penny if you have the wallet and stomach to do it.

BTW that site is nowhere to be seen now. The owner had the bragging rights for few hours when Google was on dance.

OP, I doubt you wanted to know how he claimed the top spot. Even if you did, it caused him to get slapped by Big G. For me, nice method to force a competition out from not only first position but also first page altogether with a manual review. Nicely done!
