Hey all. I submitted an article to A.C. recently and when they replied to me they said something to the effect that since my article was time sensitive, it was not available for upfront payments, only performance payments. They also stated that articles dealing with recent news were generally reviewed and considered within 24 hours instead of the usual week or so. So if you have a newsworthy article or articles that you are planning on submitting, use the "news template" and possibly have a shorter turn around on your offers and payments. Don't know if this has been posted before so if so, sorry, and if not I hope this can help some people out that may be in a jam and in need for some quick bank.

Specifically GEO-Targeted articles also are very highly valued as they're not overly saturated.

Long-tail articles also receive higher offers.

I agree with corey, .... if you submit things that are common to "your area", you'll probably get another dollar for an article.... versus the $2-$3 THEY'LL pay you

Does anyone know of maybe another category(s) in A.C. besides news that has only a 24 hour review time period?

thats an awesome idea... I had no idea that news items had a lower waiting period
I was actually avoiding all the news related items which had specific dates or years because they will be rejected for referencing
Is there a way around that?
About submitting articles near your area, you can make "your area" pretty much anywhere in the US since most are using fake US addresses to qualify for upfront payments

why would you choose to write news articles if you don't get upfront payments?

Yeah, me neither hammad. After i saw that the lightbulb went off in my head! well in my case it was really more of a little flicker in my case but... lol

they didn't say anything about not getting upfront paymments just that news items were generally reviewed in 24 hours.

so i would assume that you could request upfront payments for news articles just like any other template or topic

let me try the news article today and ill report back to this thread if I get approved within the next 2 days

Not sure if you realize this but articles using the news template are hard to get accepted. It can't be a rehashed news story or an opinion piece. You need a unique take on the story, which is not an editorial. Most news on AC is submitted as DO for performance payments because people have a hard time getting news accepted under the news template for upfronts. Good luck though.

cool thanks wow. I also got rejected for upfront payments another time because they said the article was op-ed and could only receive performance payments. on the other hand though, I did do a rewrite of Clay Aiken coming out of the closet from a week old newspaper at the time under the news template and received one of my biggest payments to date for an article, but I don't recall them approving it in 24 hours. I believe it took the standard week to review and approve. Go figure? But that was quite some time ago and maybe the 24 hour review for news has just recently been implemented.
