I have seen this rule written in regard to ASO for iOS:

Don’t repeat any keywords that are already used in your app name or in your publisher name

Do people here agree with this? Their premise is that its a waste to repeat keywords in the keyword area (100 characters) that were already used in title and subtitle, but no one has really provided much proof for this assertion. I am skeptical.

TIA

You will need to experiment yourself as it will be hard to find anyone that can provide you with proof. Keywords is an ongoing process and depends on many algorithm factors that often can change. It will be difficult to determine the impact of repeating keywords.

However, title keywords do weigh heavier than adding them in the keyword area, I would prioritize that. I personally woudnt duplicate keywords, I would rather spread out my reach so that my app can be found by more keyword combinations.

I have not been successful in testing this well - curious if anyone thinks that more weight is given to keywords that are repeated (ie a keyword used in the title will appear again in the keyword box)

Anyone else have insight?

edit/addition: conceptually this still feels very bizarre to me.
lets use this example:
a sports news update app
ex title: Live Sports News Updates
ex subtitle: Instant Sports Headlines
keywords: ???
do you mean to tell me that in the box where iOS asks us to provide keywords to help them identify what our app is about, in this example we won't use the core keywords which reflect what the app is about? (sports). this just feels wrong/off. curious what others think.
