Hi BHW-

I hope someone could help out and hope you don't think
this is a stupid question...

I have a question about doing research
for a health and fitness/fat loss related ebook.
Yes, I do use google search box for some references
but want find ways to refine my searches

Where can I find free, reputable, online sources on health/fitness/medical but has proven, science-based references from, say, a University etc for my ebook besides doing a standard "google search".

You know, when you talk about an idea or sub-topic and follow it up with something like "According to University of Chicago, blah, blah, blah..."

I've been using resources to back up claims from sites like mayoclincdotcom, nihdotgov but am looking for others respected health/fitness/medical resources and ideas out there... and for free of course.

I would like find a way to sift through the quack sites and find some solid
resources with actual research

Thanks to anyone that can point me to the right direction or simple give me more ideas.

Wikipedia has pages about specific diets that do a pretty good job of explaining how and if they work. The great thing about wikipedia is there's a ton of info, people work really hard to keep it accurate and it cites sources you can use so it doesn't look like you're researching with wikipedia. If you want to research a claim yourself there's also a ton of good detailed medical info on there, all with sources cited.

Didn't think of that dannyhw. Awesome. I will look there.

You can also find a lot of good info on highbeam.com which is a site that publishes articles from more than 6,000 publications. While they do charge a fee, there is a 7 day trial and I believe that if you try to cancel your account during the trial they will extend the trial to 30 days. I've found a lot of good info on there in a wide range of fields, from industrial to medical to financial.

This resource looks great HTH. I have stacks and stacks of magazines/books with reference tags that I may get rid of if this site/service is easy enough to search through.
