Hi everyone,

I just wanted to ask if i wrote an article in lets say English, and then translate that same article to Spanish, will google recognize it as duplicate content or will google think that i have two unique articles?

If you used an automatic translator, that would just make for one poor quality article (see: Engrish)

BUT if you got a native Spanish speaker who was also fluent in English to re-write it for you, I don't see how Google could recognize it as duplicate. Automatic translations are extremely unreliable, and I don't think big G is going to employ tons of English-Spanish translators in order to detect trans-lingual duplicate content.

I am by no means an expert on how search engines work, but that's just my two cents on the matter

I agree. Google lets you use an automatic translator when the webmaster enabled it to be translator-friendly. Because of that, the grammar isn't usually perfect or close to perfect when the page is being translated.

I don't think Google cares when it comes to trans-lingual duplicate content. It is too strenuous of a task for them to employ such meticulous checkers.

It is better to rewrite your article with someone rather than translating because it gives the best article.

like what the other have said, you better find someone who can translate and re-write it into another language.. in that way, you're assured that Google will not count the two articles as one article only.

To directly answer your question - they would certainly be considered as unique to each other, because search engine spiders read in html.
