Are you addicted to caffeine?

Im not addicted, but knew someone that drank over 30 cups a day. Eventually the doc told him he needs to quit completely as his body was not able to handle so much caffeine, so he had to completely quit. It became like an addiction to alcohol. And he basically had to stop drinking anything with caffeine in it. Hectic!

You only really get negative side effects when consuming large quantitys of caffeine.
A normal person who drinks a few cups of coffee a day is perfectly fine.
It even improves focus and productivity.
The issue is that once you start drinking coffee, you will not maintain the same amount every day. The number of cups will increase day by day. I started drinking coffee once every three or four days. Now, I get one or two daily. That is why I wanted to quit. It seems to have unnoticeable side effects when you drink for years.
Okay. Hope you are good now.

I came to know about a person through a TV show who drank 40 coffees daily. He doesn't want to stop at all.

Great. But, I wonder why people love caffeine even after knowing it's serious side effects.

Have you at least thought about quitting cigarettes?

Yes of course. And I make my little moves and have my little victories.

Like, I don't smoke in the bedroom. So at least I'm not inhaling smoke and second-hand smoke in there, and sleeping next to an ashtray :p

I also tend to not smoke when I go outside usually. That doesn't happen much, but when I go to buy something or take care of something, I try not to smoke. Then I come home and smoke again.

So I have these little things I do to smoke just a tad bit less. But I still smoke a lot.

Is Modafinil really a good drug? Have you got any side effects?
I love it. And from what I hear, many high performing individuals use it regularly.

To me it's better than adderall and here's why:

With modafinil I get purely cognitive energy without the major systemic "amped up" feeling that adderall can make you feel (the jitteriness).

Also, adderall tends to give some people a headache when it wears off.

I don't get any side effects from modafinil at all, but everyone is different so I'm not claiming nobody will.

Some people are weird about using pharmaceuticals to function at a higher level, but personally I don't give a shit whether it's "natural" or a prescription drug or whatever; if it works, it works. As long as it's not causing irreparable harm, I don't see anything wrong with it.

As far as addictions go, since we're on the topic and other people have shared theirs, for me it was an obscene amount of oxy every day (after several years of using it daily, my tolerance was so high I needed over 1,000+mg/day just to function - and no that's not a typo, and yes I realize it sounds ridiculous.) Coming off of that was like being both physically and psychologically tortured every second of every day with no reprieve. It's actually impossible to put it into words, but I'm not speaking in hyperbole when I say that death was wished for and would have been welcome in those moments.
