Are people really paying this much per click? Also advice please

I am about to start a campaign to secure signups for a poker room we are affiliated with.

So I had the not unreasonable idea (in my opinion) of a pay per click campaign. That idea appears to be blown out of the water however now I have seen the suggested bids in the poker niche.

Would appreciate it if you could answer one or all of the questions below, would be a great help thanks.

1. Are the suggested bids on google accurate? Are people really paying this much PER CLICK ? Here is a screenshot from keywords related to poker I just checked.

2. If you were setting up to advertise for people to sign up to a poker site, how would you go about it? What advertising platform/network might you use? Any advice for me here, just trying to plan out a short trial campaign now that google appears to be a no go?

3. Can you recommend any tools apart from google keyword checker to find good pay per click keywords to use?

4. If you have any other advice to offer that might help me with creating the strategy for attracting poker players to sign up to a room, can you share it?

Google always puts the suggested amount high but you don't need to go 'that' high. They will be close to those amounts thought.

Is all depend about how much the buyers is willing to pay.

Yup, had a client in the addictions niche, was paying $45 a click. Treatment center was 35,000 a month though, so to them was worth it
