Are PDF backlinks still good in 2017?

Are you using PDF to make backlinks? This method still works? If still works, anybody can share some tips about the subject?

I believe they do not work.... that said, I think they can be part of deluting the mix percentage of high profile backlinks. Too many of those top backlings (only) are not good either.

If you put a link on your PDF, it would not give much effect on keyword rank. but if you place you PDF (and your site link) on High Authority Site, it will bring a good quality backlink.
