Are machines and humans really different?

Nah. If you look at the history, every time the leading scientific paradigm changes, we assume that humans are like that. For millenia, humans where said to be hydraulic machines (and doctors treated them as such). Then, humans were said to be electrical machines. Now, it's "humans are computers". Yeah, right, till the next change of paradigm.

Wow.. I didn't know that.

I would also like to recommend the book Life 3.0 which I recently finished reading. Has some very interesting ideas on what it actually means to create proper "intelligence".
 
Humans are not robots and robots are not human. Human created robots and robots are just machines. Humans are not machines, human is flesh organic matter.
 
Its possible but i feel like we're a long way from there. If AI ever reaches singularity or anything close to it I feel like it would be very hard to differentiate between a human and a AI.
Feelings and emotions too are just programs built to help us and humanity survive. Which would mean a AI could actually be more human than a real human.
 
Ok, so we are far away from replicating our brain... Why? Well, transferred knowledge is a simple example.
While you can train AI to play for example a single game (Go, Chess, Video games) and become a master, the AI does not have the ability to transfer that knowledge to any similar games and will totally suck.

Point being, you have to train AI to do anything as simple as it may seem. AI without training != AI. This transfers to emotions as those also have to be trained.
AI can be an expert in whatever field a HUMAN trained it well in, but will suck at everything else.

Yes but what matters is the nature of machines and humans, not what they are literally made of. I believe even tho machines are very well capable of delivering mesmerizing solutions, different from humans, they will be forever bound to a rough system of metal and circuits, so humans are a complex system of organs and all sorts of organic cells communications, machines are in the end but eletrical circuits following a road and reaching a neutral end that has no value for the machine, but for the human that has made it. They are but eletricity following a track and reaching a common end.

I am not boosting my post count, it is just an interesting way of thinking. You had nothing to say aside from pointing out my "giving credit where credit was do." You did the same in different words and you googled an article without adding real insight into the topic. This topic is simply something I have never thought of before. Next time, I will take my cue from you, and I will add a link to a googled article rather than summarizing it or even surmising it for others to get a different opinion. Machines will never be like humans.

Why?

Feelings.

It's hard to make machine that will feel something and also to remember some moment and how it was feel in that moments. Humans are better, but in future I'm scared that we will create so great machines with x10 better brain then our, without feelings :)

What makes you think that feelings are not computable? What is your brain doing that makes it "special" enough to be able to "feel"? Biologically speaking, the brain is just a huge network of neural synapses. If a huge network of neural synapses can "feel", then shouldn't an exact simulation be also able to do so? Couldn't this simulation be done in a powerful enough computer? According to Turing, any algorithm can be coded to work on any universal machine.

Therefore the only question that remains is, is there an algorithm that can be used to perfectly simulate the human brain?
 
Really fascinating to think about. It makes the simulation theory look real.

"Feelings" are just a release of different neurotransmitters altering the ratio of your hormones. If you manage to associate each neurotransmitter with a certain stimulus on a robot then it will be fairly easy to recreate this whole feelings situation.
 
Unless AI completely annihilates us all, humans are going to become more and more like machines. I for one can't wait to become a badass cyborg!

Well actually OP there is mo way robots can be called a living beings no matter how intelligent they are beside who makes the robots :)
The difference is consciousness I suppose - nobody really knows what that even is. But no matter how clever a robot is, it won’t have consciousness will it?

Unless every object already has consciousness and we just don’t know it yet?
That's a plus just what am about to say when ready through :)
