Are long blog posts still better for SEO?

yes exactly . ppl still stressing over 2k words like it is 2018 is wild.
if a search has a quick answer just give it to them in 400 words and move on. padding stuff out with useless fluff just pisses users off and makes them bounce anyway. just match what the query actually asks for. short for simple stuff, long only if the topic needs a real breakdown. stop overcomplecating it.

I no longer chase the number of words. Provide a quick answer to the question, and provide additional depth where it makes sense to do so, as an 800-word article can beat out a 2,500,word piece any day.
 
I don’t really focus on word count If a shorter post answers the question properly I’d keep it short instead of adding extra stuff just to make it longer

Actually i have seen thin articles out ranking much longer ones just because of getting straight to the point. The number of words can not save an article at all that takes 10 paragraphs to state two important points.

I focus on search intent the most and in giving the maximum information from my posts to the readers.

The mere count of the word will not make the post rank for me. i would prefer mainly writing the shortest posts that covers every thing in its entirety before expanding it further where necessary.

Depends overall on the niche but depth will beated fluff any day of the week. I just answers the question to the best of the my abilities and fastest as possible without making any thing unnecessarily long.
 
I don’t think longer is automatically better If a shorter post answers the search intent clearly and covers the important points it can perform just as well I usually focus on usefulness and relevance first then add length only when the topic actually needs more detail

imo the intent of search should dictate the length, not SEO guidelines. where someone just needs an explanation, having an articlle which is too long can ruin the experience for the user. for more general topics i will dig deeper nd talk about all the subtopics.
 
Longer isn’t always better in my opinion i would concentrate on matching the search intent and providing an answer to the question posed before adding more information if the topic requires a longer article.

The thing was that shorter posts have beaten me by answering my long posts in only one sentence. these days whenever I see that everything about the post has been said I stop.
 
This is not just one thing. And to be honest, thinking of word count to create a post is not the right approach. Word count is just an idea, what you should think about is the content. If it matches to the intent, if it completed the query, then it is good. Often times things cannot be explained alone without context. So instead of focussing on word count, it is better to focus on answering the query to the best.
 
i don’t think longer is automatically better i’d focus on covering the search intent properly without adding filler just to increase word count if a shorter article answers the query clearly and completely it can perform just as well as a long form post
 
i focus on answering the query clearly first, then add detail only when it actually helps. word count by itself doesnt matter much if the page fully satisfies the search intent.
 
Short articles can rank very well if they answer the search intent completely Google has said theres no preferred word count so focus on usefulness and depth rather than making posts longer just for SEO.
