And 99.99% of the time those $10-20 guest posts are nothing more than PBNs

How do you contact the blog owner? by email? how do you write the application?

IT depends on you for the price being cheap or expensive or free depending on how you do things.

I stumbled into some luck after reading this and replying to this thread

I cant even remember how I found the site.
But I found a site in a related niche but not the same and I plugged it into SEMrush.

Turns out the site has around 200k per month in organic traffic according to semrush

So I checked out the links and when I started looking at the pages linking to the site around 90% have some sort of guest contribution page somewhere on them.

So I started writing some of those same sites asking if I could write a post and out of the 16 I emailed, 14 replied yes. 2 have not replied but none said no.

Semrush measures things differently than other tools but its the one I use.

Anyway the lowest has a Semrush authority score of just 16 but it gets an estimated 573 organic visits a month. (its also a local biz)

the highest authority score is 59 and the highest organic traffic estimate is 200k, 2 different sites
the 59 AS has 37k estimated organic visits and the one with 200K visits has an AS of 57

I guest posted on both of those about a week and a half ago

I havent done more because I am testing the impact of just TWO guest posts.

But based on what this other guy did. I imagine it will do something. And by following his backlinks I have 1500 referring domains to look at. He has 15 pages of referring domains and I am only o page 2. I went and looked at page 10 and even those domains are in the 30+ Authority score range and the one I put into semrush is getting a few hundred estimated organic visits a month. (EDIT- I looked at a couple more of the page 10 backlinks and the two I looked at get around 5k monthly visits and AS of 35 or so, there is quality there too!)

So there is alot of quality links I may be able to get between page 2 and by the time I get to page 13 or so when I expect to see a bunch of scraper site domains

BTW some of these are pay to play but not all of them.

The asking price always starts high. They will usually budge.

I think you can reach out to free guest post first, you can reach out to others company which offer "write for us" program. You just need to submit your article and pitch them, this way you can get good backlinks free without having to pay.

It depends on your niche.

If you're trying to get a high-quality backlink from a top personal finance website, 300 dollars is not crazy by any stretch of the imagination.

It might even be cheap depending on your keyword target and how well you convert the traffic you pull from a number one ranking for that keyword.

I would suggest that you analyze your question based on your niche target and how much money you stand to make from the traffic.

The problem with thinking in terms of cost is it discourages you from strategizing your way to success.

Remember, it takes money to make more money.

Many people say that there are "free ways" to get traffic but what they're doing is not really free.

Why? Time is money.

If you don't have a lot of budget for your initial link-buying, you better roll up your sleeves and start doing SEO outreach.

Now, this is not free because the time you spend hitting up on all these websites and doing SEO analyses of their metrics could've been spent earning dollars somewhere else.

There is such a thing as opportunity cost.

So given that reality, there is no such thing as free.

You're only swapping time for money.

That's the reason people hire other people to do jobs because they want to extend their time by leasing somebody else's time.

It's not free as long as the activity has an equivalent in the form of money.

I would suggest that you look at those link prices based on the factors I've listed above.

You would quickly realize that depending on your niche and the results you expect to enjoy because of your high ranking, a hundred dollars or even 300 euros might be cheap.

You can get the backlinks for $1000 too from top sites. It all depends on what kind of site you are getting backlinks from.

Yes... the average is $360 USD you can get ask less or much more depending on the metrics and subject of the POST

I imagine any place selling links under these prices would be marked as spam by Google, even if through their backdoor circuits, and it would do more harm than good.
