Forum posting actually work if we have well renowned forum like blackhatworld.com, for the same, in current age I must backlinks are not that much worthy , you must focus on proper technical SEO and Digital marketing , which may help to build up a proper SEO for your website.

Forum profile links are not the type of links that will help you to rank. A few of them will not hurt though but I doubt that there will be any positive effect.
On the other side, signature links could be good if members click on them and stay on your site.
