Are Forum Backlinks worth it?

Lets say I can get some forum (in profile and signature) backlinks of a high authority site in my niche. Would it help my rankings, pass some link juice or higher my authority in the niche? Links would be d0 f0ll0w mostly.

if it is a relevant niche, then according to john mueller, yes

"A page with inbound links relevant for Topic A, will make that page relevant for Topic A. But if your page is about Topic Z, that link is probably not going to be useful to you in terms obtaining a ranking benefit.

A web page does not inherit authority, it only inherits links and those links only matter when they are also relevant.

So obtaining links from social media or social bookmarking sites does not confer any particular benefit because they are inherently irrelevant and any inbound links are also irrelevant.

If it is DA 40-50 + i would do only a few. At most 5-10. Otherwise i don't suggest it.

Get these type of backlinks on tier 2. You can get linka from relavant forum posts though it might help.

Links from Forums work well ( If the forums are not spammed af and have mods)

For example
A link from BHW is worth it as not a lot of people are allowed to post their link (Nofollow links help in ranking)

I usually use forum links for my tier 1. Forums should have good traffic according to ahrefs and should be moderated to weed out nonrelevant links (I make forum links to all my sites, I know they help)

First of all thanks for the great input. Currently my websitei s having some Google Dance jumping around the Top 5 and sometimes going back to page 2. I think some High DA forum links in the exact same niche could give the final push to settle the rankings.

it really depends on the niche then i think..
For my niche, its really hard to find exact match forum posts, unless I make one

Middle of last month already

i am having a hard time to give someone advice who has been around this forum since 2013 and has close to 2K of posts! You probably know the game much better than myself. :)

one question: are all of your keywords dancing or just 1?

I believe passing the forum link juice to your money site through tier 1 is the way to go. I am staying very conservative with my sites after this recent update.
Won't start to let my guard down until I get a full picture of what all is affected in the update. maybe next 2-3 mos.
Just my 2 cents of the coin :)

Ofcourse, but not the shitty spammed signature/profile links.
Get contextual ones from active forums in your niche.

for me, if the forum is not spammed and of high quality and relevant to the niche, I prefer to link it directly to my page with a logn term somewhat relevant generic anchor(never emd anchor), else link it to tier 2 or 3...

Forum post had worked like a charm for me, though I used to link to tier 1. The only thing to be kept noticed is that such forums are moderated well and you need a tricky brain as well to not let people focus on links prior to the content. Also, anchor texts could be used accordingly.

About a year ago friend of mine asked me how to improve his local business rankings on google, the business is about healthy food ( he has a healthy food restaurant ). I did some web2.0, social signals etc... low volume of work since the keyword is local and not many competition actually. Then he told me he has some forum profiles on some really popular local forums (for my country) and he is active there, we updated signatures & links on profiles, it was about 10-15 forum profiles (he was active or semi active on them). In the time span of about 3 weeks he jumped from #4 to #1 and he is still there without any aditional backlink added since then (ofc he has social signals on daily basis). So I guess yes, they can be worth it.
