Are expired domains worth buying?

they are used to build PBN's mostly and sometimes build out big authority sites. It all comes down to how good the domain is.
How would I measure how good the domain is?

"There are some domain transfers ( e.g. genuine purchases of companies) where it can make perfect sense for links to transfer. But at the same time it wouldn't make sense to transfer the links from an expired or effectively expired domain, for example. Google (and probably all search engines) tries to handle links appropriately for domain transfers.
Adding further, he said:

TF40+ is something which is very rare, as per my experience these are golden domains, never miss chance to grab them. These domains are much better then trying new domain.

First off, I'm amazed Barry & crew get their heads out of his ass long enough to publish anything. I wouldn't take anything from there at face value. And secondly, that article is 6 years old. You should know by now it is bullshit from all the people making bank by ranking sites with PBNs.
I'd definitely pick up a TF 40+ domain. I can't say exactly what I'd pay for it without checking it out myself, but I imagine it would go for a premium.

You'll get a different answer from everyone on this. I think TF is the best available of the metrics from Majestic or Moz. It isn't impossible to manipulate, but I think it's the best we've got. CF, PA and DA can be VERY easily manipulated. As a quick example - I have a test domain that I pounded with nothing but shitty GSA links. The only of those metrics that didn't go way up was TF.
That doesn't mean you should buy just based on the TF though. What you really need to do is have a diligent look through the backlinks and check the site's history in Archive.org. I like to look at the whois info too - if it changed hands a dozen times there's probably a reason.
It's almost more art than science. There really is no "if the DA is this and the TF is that you have a good domain". Need to look at everything as a whole and go with your gut.

definitely worth buying if the Tf is 40+ , such domains with a clean profile are rare to find.
