I have an outreach strategy that is working relatively well (i ask for backlinks to business websites in exchange for talking good about their business).
I do it manually by visiting the websites and using the contact forms or emails. It is pretty time consuming so I was wondering if it was worth it to outreach also to businesses with websites with DA or DR very low (lets say between 0 and 5).

Maybe it's worth it in the beginning when my own site has no or very few backlinks?
Or is it always worth it since the sites are very relevant and their DA/DR may increase over time?
What do you guys think?

if these links rank you then they're good, don't stress about low DA / DR that google ignores anyway. If they don't rank you then they're obviously worthless, but you still shouldn't disavow / remove them because they might become good later on, or google might have a change of heart and start valuing only links from low authority sites now, you never know what google's whims will be in the future :)

Just keep the links (and keep building them) until you rank or notice that you don't rank

If the quality of the site is good without any spam backlink profiles and the links from relevant high quality article, it's well worth it.

Google doesn't care about DA/DR, the only thing that matters is how relevant the traffic of those websites is.
If they are in the same niche and targeting same keywords as you, a backlink from them will go a long way.

thank you all for the answers.

Yeah but I've already done this but I don't know if the links that gave the ranking boost are the good ones or the sum of all links (including the low DR links). In the outreaches I do there a mix of these websites
If the sites have good traffic you can go for it
Some of them have zero traffic, they are local businesses (think restaurants, hairdressers etc) so they don't need a website with a lot of traffic to be profitable

the sites are not blogs, so no articles. They are businesses site (think restaurants, hairdressers etc)

well they are very relevant (example: my site is about hairdressing and I outreach hairdresser sites), but the very low DR/DA sites I am talking about have also very low traffic since they do not have articles or similar posts.

Having said all of that, I do not pay them for the links, I give shootouts to their businesses to get the link, so it's not that costly for me to outreach to these low authority/low traffic sites.

The question is, is it even worth it or these links are so not valuable that they are literally useless? if so, I may not waste the time needed to send email / contact forms to them.

ignore those metrics. what you are doing is the key to success. you are reaching out to real sites and asking for a link; specially sites related to you.

also, if you have clients who use your product/service, get a guest post from them as well.

you will be amazed at the result!

Those backlinks are actually good for diversifying your backlink profile as well.

I noticed that you said you do this manually? I believe Scrapebox has a plug-in/add on that scrapes contact forms & submits them for you.

Unsure if that’s something you want to look into but there’s a YouTube channel that has a guide for it as well.

The links are not useless though. These are links from real websites and even though they have minimal traffic, still provide some value.

depend on the effort you need to get those links.
it's good to diversify anyway, only onet type of link is not good for your site.
the main point of the link is to improve your site authority and getting traffic anway. the rest of metric is just there to help us identify this.

Check the topical trust flow value.

If it is good, then you can go with it.

Most of the cases, experts use this metrics to selecting the blogs for building backlinks.

too poor for scrapebox xD
*EDIT: i see here on BHW is 77 USD, it's not much but since I'm earning next to nothing right now (and I'm paying ahref group buy monthly) I don't want to sped anymore .
I probably should find 3 or 4 use cases in my strategy for Scrapebox, then it probably would be wort it. One use case is what you have proposed now!

good to know , thank man :)

Go for relevant backlinks! DA and DR can be improved at anytime.

Main is traffic and rankings , mostly factors does not matter because we are focusing on CPA and click count

If overall search traffic is on an uptrend, definitely worth it

If you get backlinks from relevant sites no matter what DA DR the site have your site rank definitely increase.

Backlinks from relevant sites will definitely improve your ranking.

Relevancy is more important than those matrix. Anyone can increase DA using spammy Fiverr links that are quite worthless.
