It doesn't matter i have seen people using google news approved sites to outrank top competitors such as forbos, bbc, huff post etc, But yeah thats true google news sites give high advantage in ranking, But there are two types of google news approved site:
- New Edition Approved Site - They are not that effective you can easily get one for 100-500$
- Old Edition Approved Site - But old edition approved sites price is really high and they are exempted from copied content and google update they can easily rank on any written article in couple of seconds.

Tons of Crypto Currency sites are popping up
It's happening so people can sell a fast 'press release/guest post' . A good biz niche for such sites at this time.
I can imagine it's not too hard to se this up if you buy an old crypto site, fix up the content structure and add a lot of new content.
