Traveling is my dream. That's why Im working my ass just to travel and live abroad, switch places to places. Japan and south korea are the best places if you want to teach english, why? cause they badly need english teachers, japanese and koreans are very interested in learning english and they are most likely the best asian countries you can teach and have high salary in return.
P.S. Ive Studied Highschool in Japan, and Im much better in english than my english teacher in highschool. lol. Im thinking wtf? i can teach this guys english. lol.

i'm in australia. i also want to visit south america and one day move somewhere there.
has anyone here been to belize, panama or costa rica? they're the main places i'm interested in. any experiences?
i also want to go to mexico, but i'm too scared... i don't want to get my head cut off and stuff like that. is it as bad there as people say??
would the other three i mentioned be safer than mexico?

It's not too expensive is it? I was looking at a few condos online and they had some for $119k USD haha.
I've been to Costa Rica and Mexico with my parents and brother when I was younger. In Mexico we stayed in the touristy areas and places where we were least likely to get taped up and beaten by members of the Cartel haha. Costa Rica is gorgeous though, I love that country. It has its bad parts, but it's so damn nice. I wouldn't mind spending the rest of my life there at all.

Also in regards to teaching, in S.America you don't need a certificate unless you want to teach in super high end school. Many times, in major places like Buenos Aires, Cusco Peru, Lima Peru, Santiago Chile and others, schools are always looking for anyone that speaks english and wants to teach.

One of my dreams is to travel around the world for a year in a yacht. Im going to buy a used yacht and equip it with the latest communication equipment and build some of it myself.
If you want to buy a boat,buy used since it is alot cheaper,and alotof them are barely used. People will but a yacht and only use it once a year or less,then they need some money they will sell them for alot less then they paid for. Yachtworld.com is the best site for finding a good a boat at good price.

also wondering, when it comes to spanish, are there different types? i have heard that there's spanish in spain, and then spanish for south america.
i went to the library and borrowed a few books so i could teach myself. i'm pretty sure it's for spanish in south america (it does mention mexico a few times in the books).
would it matter though? how differently do they speak it?

I have been thinking some kind of traveling too. My current problems are that my methods requires me to be physically at home in case these usb devices need resetting or so. I was thinking i could hire my brother look after them. So at the moment im expanding into stuff that i can easily work on with VPSs and such.
My 2nd problem is having diabetes (type1) so if there will be problems or all shit gets stolen might yield some problems. And i refuse to die abroad like that unless i have few nukes on me to payback.
Other than that i really would like to go south america and asia tour.

I have been traveling for just shy of 4 years now. And when I am living in the US its always somewhere different, just moved to FL (again) last week.
I like the fact that where I am in IM I can go 2-3 weeks without working at all and then work a day or two and do it again. After about 6 months I need a few solid months (for me solid 10-20 hours a week lol) to get everything smooth again and then I can go for another 6-9 months.
I have to say though as of the last year or so I haven't been going extraordinary places but even within the US its nice to move somewhere and rent a place on a month to month for a few months and then move on. The freedom of IM is wonderful and perfectly a realistic lifestyle as I am far from the sharpest knife in the drawer.
Good luck, if you set a goal like that and work for it you'll get it.
You'll find a drastic difference between ex-pat areas (those which you'll typically find online) and a normal nice neighborhood. Talking 3-4 times as much easily in many countries.

Im also in Thailand and have a couple of friends here also who work IM fulltime and live here. Cost of living is low and if you are earning a western income doing IM then you can live like a king!! Next destination/plan is to go spend 6 months in Japan.

I have noticed the prices like that alot. When I was searching for apartments in bucharest in english it would be a minimum of 1000/euro a month for a small one in good atea. But when i did search in romanian I could get a nice apartment in good atea for 400 euros/month
I havnt searched moscow yet,but its probably one of the biggest differences. Due to the fact 1/3 of expats make $250,000 a year or more there.

Exactly. Plus its like a subcomunity within the city/town. Tends to be a bunch of Western Europeans, Americans and Australians living in an area (gated communities, better police presence, etc.) and they feel more comfortable together so real estate becomes ridiculous since they usually have more money anyways.
You can usually find a perfectly nice, crime free neighborhood with equal quality of housing and friendly families for 1/3 or 1/4 of the price even just blocks or a mile or two away. This IMO is better anyways - you travel to immerse yourself in the locale and cultural not to make a mini US in another country. The only down side is not as much of this stuff is advertised online in many places, often you'll have to show up and then search which screws a residency visa so you'll have to go as a tourist, find a place, then apply for an extended stay which is usually ok but some countries can be crazy about that and you have to set up way in advance.

If I was traveling like that I would prefer to not be living in an "Ex Pat neighborhood" might as well as just stay home.
Live the culture, enjoy the lifestyle of others and learn something.
To me that makes sense.

Its more of a sort of stereotypical breed of person. It is typically the retired couple that basically lives life as they would in the US but is there for the currency difference, the tropical temperature and bragging rights
It is not at all that all people do it that way, but suburbs of ex-pats tend to spring up in US friendly countries and that's what I was trying to say; if you're looking online those tend to be the places you find as they're the ones that actually have US real estate agents doing the listings and showing the places and once you get there you'll find you can pay considerably less and live somewhere just as nice.
I wish I could take a year off of school or dropout for a bit to focus on I'm and writing but I'd feel like I'd have let my father down haha. Few things sound better than sitting on a Caribbean beach with a laptop right now, though. I'm sitting in my 7pm to 10pm entrepreneurship class, typing away on myt blackberry on a cold and rainy night. This sucks haha.
