Anyone recommend an alternative to Shutterstock?

Hi folks, I need some advice. My content marketing is gradually picking up and a client wants a few content related images imbedded within each article I send them.

I'm aware of shutterstock, however I'm looking at managing the overheads a little aggressively. Are there any suitable alternatives lurking out there, that someone could kindly recommend. Copyright free and cost free (wishful thinking, I know!) would be an absolute bonus.

Pixabay have a good selection of images - all released on a creative commons zero license.

I did in fact stumble across that one. I now just tend to use Google's advanced image search, filtered by copyright free. But it takes ages to trawl through the result and find a half decent image!

I use 123RF.com. It works out to be around $3-4 per image
