Anyone making good money with the Amazon Affiliate Program?

Here's the thing with Amazon.

The commissions are extremely low, but the cookie means they can buy something unrelated and you can make good money of that.

So your goal should be to go for expensive products and to put the buyer in a buying mood. As long as they buy a similar product you make a solid commission.

Electronics are a good thing to sell, you get more per sale from them because they are so expensive.

Amazon is an extremely convenient one-stop affiliate program for physical and information products. Through one portal and highly trafficked brand name site, you can promote items in virtually every category, and also choose to market $500+ high ticket items. It's true that keyword selection is more involved, but one can create a 'trifecta' monetized site for a combination of Adsense, Amazon and even Clickbank campaigns. Start with a highly clicked Adsense base kw, then use that term to look for corresponding Amazon products to promote. There may also be a tie in for a related CPA promotion that can be cross marketed in this manner.

There are positives and negatives for everything.. the negatives when it comes to amazon affiliate marketing are

1) Low commission rates 4-8.5 (but better than walmart)
2) one day cookie life.. absolutely nothing.. I will research a product today.. will not be satisfied google about the product for a couple of days and then will go back to amazon and will buy it.. so no commission for the referrer.
3) ranking of products are difficult.. for many products amazon will rank ahead of our ranking

Pros:

1) You just get approved once and you have endless amount of things to sell.
2) One of the best commission rates for electronics and computers (amazon pays 4%, compared to walmart 1%, hp 2%, lenovo 2% and so on) that means 200-300% more profit by selling the same item. Don't see it as 1% -3% more.. If you sell a laptop worth $1000, amazon will offer you $40 as commission and walmart will offer $10 that is 300% more profits.
3) Trust Factor.. the conversion rate for me is always around 8-15%, which is tremendous.. and I don't have such conversion rates with any other programs.

Have a healthy mix with your websites.. promote amazon, clickbank, regnow, avangate, cj, linkshare and gan.. find the right mix... if you are just making $40-50 a month through amazon, then there is something seriously wrong with you strategy.

All the best guys

I have many amazon websites with different price range products. Usually CTR is about 8%, which is not bad. Sometimes you got sales not related to your websites which costs way more than the price of the item you are trying to sell :)
I would suggest you to build 1-2 websites for amazon with medium competition and see if you can rank them high (sometimes it's not that easy to rank due to first 3-5 spots are usually occupied by highly authority, specially after latest google update). Take your time for keyword research and analyze your competitors!

I make a couple hundred dollars with Amazon. I've not actively promoted any of their products though; just put up a ton of sites back in the day which make the odd sale here and there.

Good thing with Amazon is that, due to their brand name, making sales is easier and thus, even with the ridiculously low number of buyers I send to them, I make some money.

Yes I am now making $$$ from just one site.

Does an affiliate fellow have to submit every new site for approval by AMZN or after initial approval of application we can use any? Thx.

Excellent work for guy who have earning $XXX /mo, why mine is stil $3/day? I offer main products on my site, but why buyer just bought the accessories?

hi i have been always wondered about amazon affiliate programme? do i have to buy products and send them to amazon and they ship to clients???.... can u please give some inform to me me if possible i would really appreciate it Thanks

I am currently making $100 every 6-8 months. I think it all boils down to traffic.

A tip i heard recently is that lots of big money earners in amazon also promotes very low value products, say $1 -$5 which increases their sales and as a result the %age from amazon, since it is based on the number of sales.

In terms of EPC, Amazon can actually be far more profitable than a lot of affiliate programs.

When you're only making $5/$100 in sales it doesn't look so appealing but when you consider that even a $500 camera is going to convert higher than a lot of ebooks with the right traffic, you'll end up not really noticing the difference in earnings because of the low commission amount or short cookie.

Nope, just sign up with a generic site and you'll be good to go.

I have no idea what affiliate programs you work with but none I've worked with work like that. Either Amazon or a 3rd Party seller ship the item and you pocket a commission which varies from 4%-8.5%.

I was using WP Robot but you have to cloak your links or the evil Google will nail you to the wall. I was doing pretty well with them but only after cloaking the links, no matter how much content you have Google's Algorithm Assault on 99% of websites will trash you for focusing heavily on affiliate links. Good luck!

Agreed that making sales is easy due to the brand name and cookie that works for sales for multiple products, but I'm guessing for 99% of the affiliates it's going to be hard to pass the few hundred $ a month earnings. There's simply not enough traffic :D

As far as scalability, what automation is being used most effectively by those of you who are cashing in with Amazon?

Thanks!
