I've been seeing everyone vibe coding recently, making the next "billion" dollar SaaS with Replit, Claude AI and Lovable, but I'm curious who's making money from it?

I was going to write a post here about how I genuinely accidentally made $2.3K MRR from a failed Lovable app I made, and how its easy as hell to get apps made in like 3 hours as long as you have enough credits that don't run dry.

yeah would be actually interesting to see if 90% of these bugged out vibe coded slop do much numbers lol

i can't comment on public apps, but i've created ~15 apps/ tools so far for my biz that have saved me 100's of hrs by automating steps in my biz process. just stuff for basically any little repeatable thing i identify that's using ~8+ hrs a week and can be covered with basic automation

and even replaced monthly paid subscriptions to tools i used. that alone is prob worth ~$4K so far? Prob much more, the value is understated. Then combine that with the fact that before I'd spend anywhere from $500-1K/m on the lower end on fiverr for little custom tools and scripts

so add it all up prob saved ~8K+ in just a few months of starting to dev my own stuff
and i've replaced it all with a simple $20/m Claude subscription while barely knowing how to html a hello world page :D crazy!

then think of thousands of others who've done the same.... think of all those cancelled subscriptions, all that money exiting from the freelance platforms and potential jobs gone... think of the economy of it all....

but that's another discussion lol. crazy times we live in

please share the story about the $2.3k mrr app. what was it supposed to do vs what it actually does now?
I'll make it in own thread but essentially I made an app that finds Reddit subreddits and Facebook groups for your website.

So you enter your URL, it scans deep inside your website and looks for organic subreddits and FB groups that will work best for your company, AND it will write up a post for you for that particular subreddit/FB group so you can just copy and paste it.

That was the failed one lol.

I thought to myself if no one is using it, why don't I use it myself? So I scanned another vibe coded app I made in a very niche industry, nothing like your typical SAAS everyone else makes, and then scanned the URL and it found all the subreddits and FB groups for me, places I wouldn't even have known about, and then copied and pasted the posts it churned out and I got 6 people paying me $400/M for that tool that helps them

Yeah we're deffo hitting that level of AI advancement where a $20/m membership with Claude can do more than $5k worth of marketing, coding and automated process especially when you make it download skills in a MD file and use Opus 4.6 extended thinking, honestly that stuff makes you feel like your company can reach God mode and scale like hell.

That’s wild you hit $2.3K MRR, drop the story
I'll make it in its own thread

I've only coded apps and tools to save money and time. If I have an idea for an app to make money, I'll try it and share results.

Very good bro. Hope you share story

Vibe coding is fine for prototyping, and I use ai to boilerplate certain components, BUT vibecoding an entire app without understanding the underlying logic is a disaster waiting to happen. You’ll end up with a polished UI masking a backend that is terrible. It’s all fun and games until you have to refactor a codebase that even the ai doesn't understand anymore.

Oh god, I am $30K deep in a development project that I just wished was vibe coded off the start instead. By the time I inquired the developer to start on the project, I have learnt how to vibe code myself, and many times think about how much money I would be able to save if I just learnt to do it off the bat.

what kind of lovable app were you able to make in just 3 hours that's still generating that kind of money?

Nowadays, with the aid of AI, developing an application or writing web code is a remarkably simple task.

We previously developed an AI-powered app for converting images into videos and ran advertisements on Facebook to generate revenue.

Although that particular venture ultimately ended in failure, it does not preclude the possibility—which aligns perfectly with your current theme—of writing code to generate profit.

Many people are currently exploring various applications as avenues for monetization, and inevitably, such exploration will yield successful results.
