Well I don't know how many of you have heard of these or seen them before but a tick is another thing that I'm scared of and I don't like, but when it comes to these things it's being bitten by them that scares me, they literally suck onto you and suck out your blood. They seem to be quite common around Europe, mainly in forests.

I hate them, they're freaking ugly and disgusting too. You can even die from one if you let it suck onto you for too long and sometimes you don't even realize they're there, they can easily hide.

we have these in minnesota, you get them if you get into the long grass, nothing to be scared of, if they latch on to you, you just pull them off lol, if you don't know they are on you, your not taking enuff showers lmao

There are people who don't know what ticks are? I'd imagine that at least everyone in the USA should know what they are. Watch out for lime disease!

Don't freak out!

Although I've never had/seen one I'm pretty paranoid about them when jogging in the forest. There's a lot of hype here about them, since they can be deadly/paralyzing if you haven't been vaccinated against them. Pulling them out yourself isn't the best idea as some of its poison might stay in you..

Get them in the UK too.

Be careful when trying to remove them if bitten, because if pulled out- the head can remain in the wound.

These are the things that worry me. I don't like going into forests because of them. I find them gross too.

Luckily I haven't seen any in the UK.

And they can give you Lyme disease so just pulling them out is not the best thing to do.

You can pull them off. You just need tweezers and go straight up and away. Pulling to the sides are not advised. Another way to remove them is with fire. Get a lighter/match and put it near them/under them and it will come off.

No I heard fire makes them burrow deeper. Ive been in Minnesota for awhile and I get a little paranoid about them every once in a while but it's generally unlikely you won't notice them like was said.

You can pull them out, but if you don't see a doctor you risk developing Lyme. Couple years later you will be running from doctor to doctor with unexplainable symptoms, including neurological ones.

I have been bitten twice. I removed them after killing them with fire No problem

Yeah, my dad removed his by himself and got sick, but I think his turned his skin purple around the area so he knew what it was. Got shots and was fine.

I live in the wilderness, so I know pretty damn well what those things are and I hate them. There's all kinds of spiders, snakes, ticks, and mosquitoes around here. I like where I live, but some of the wildlife around here is just ridiculous. What's even worse are bugs called chiggers. They're bugs that you can barely even see, and they embed themselves under your skin. Whenever that happens, you get some sort of blister looking thing and it itches like hell. Several years ago, me and a girl I used to hang out with went and hung out in the woods, and my legs ended up getting covered with them. Couldn't even see my skin because there were so many. Had to douse my legs in some sort of bug repellant shit that her grandma had to kill them off. You should move out here for a couple months sometime, might toughen you up (or freak you the hell out lol).

you can pull them off, just make sure the head comes off with.

In Africa, you get African tick bite fever, or "bushlice fever"... many people die from it, but its no big deal if you get the right treatment and get it taken care of asap.

you could always try burning them out - seems to work pretty good. i find its best to use a hot insense stick, but you could use a cigarette instead.

some of you guys need to seriously HTFU. Down here in Australia a tick is quite far down the list of things that can harm you. (somewhere between sunburn and a nasty telling off)
