I've landed my first ever 1st page on Google. I'm sitting at number 7 and I'm wondering what to do now. I really could use a legitimate conversation on Skype right now. I'm tired of people on here who claim to know everything but have nothing to show for. I have only been doing SEO for about two months. It's unfortunate I don't have anyone really to share this news with either. SMH.

Congratulations, time to have a deeper look at the competition above you.

Also why do you think the people you talk to on skype will be any better qualified.
Some of the biggest bullshitters and clowns you can imagine are on Skype.

Ha yea true.. but OP trying figure out the backlinks of your competition and build high pr quality backlinks. Way to go higher, all the best.

The only way forward is by trying and testing yourself, if you got it to the first page you must be doing something right, so just keep what you are doing.

It seems like you're already on the right path. Breaking the top 3 is usually the hardest. If you're in a local niche look into citations. If it's not look into building a stronger link profile from authority sites. SEO is changing and you should start putting some effort into inbound marketing. Build up profiles on sites in your niche whether it be social networks, forums, videos, infogrpahics, or some kind of community site where you can post content to.

You can build lower quality links and break the top spots but it's usually only temporary. Like others have said see what your competition is doing.

Congrats on the first page rankings. If you can replicate the on-page of the top ranking site, and download their back links as mentioned above, you should be able to push further up the page. (Not always that simple to copy back link sources though)
Loads of people rave about page 1, but really it's only the top 3 spots that make any significant difference to your traffic (if you're targeting decent keywords of course)
The only other thing is to just stay consistent with what you've already been doing.

I don't know much about link building. I don't even think I have any backlinks for the website that's sitting on the first page at the moment. Are there any good reads anyone might suggest?

I appreciate the congratulations from everyone.

Wow thanks. I learn a bit from your post

What is the best backlink checker that's free?

Honestly, you're not going to get good results with free checkers. I would recommend going to fiverr and pay someone that can get you all the links from ahrefs.

It has only 1/4 of my links listed there. It hasn't come to its full potential

OP - PM me your site if you want and I'll grab the links from ahrefs for you as a favor. Include your email address too so I can send it to you. Heck, I'll print the whole report for you so you can get a nicer overview.
