Anyone here use Blender?

It's freaking complicated. Trust me. I spent days trying to figure the thing out. Sure, you're pretty damn talented if you get the hang of it, but I'd recommend 3ds Max or Maya over Blender any day.

The downside to both would obviously be that they aren't free.

+1 for Piratebay.

I figure if I can learn how to use FL Studio, I can learn Blender? I've heard how intimidating it is.

Hmm I'm not too sure about that. FL Studio has nothing to do with 3D modelling, and has a relatively simple learning curve.

I prefer Cinema 4d or Silo 2. Blender is too complicated, for even the simplest stuff.

You're probably right lol. I want to learn animation so bad though!

Used Blender years ago for my uni's 3D game project. I would not say it is too complicated, just takes some time to learn your way around it. Its open source and its community is huge, regular updates, tons of high quality tutorials etc. It is not on the same level as 3ds Max but Blender got his advantages as well. After all, your imagination is the limit :)

OP, I messed around with blender for a bit. All those tools have a pretty steep learning curve and require patience and dedication.

I managed to almost get a 3d fish completed (from some tutorial) but then got bored so be prepared to spend the time learning.

My Son can create with those tools but I would rather spend my time on other things.

Good luck with it though.

Blender is the shit. If you master it you gotta job on any major design firm. Course the learning curve is steep but it's one helluva program. I can't even draw a circle in it.

Here is my opinion on the best 3D modelling programs that I have used :
1.4D Cinema.
2.3DS Max.
3.Maya.
4.Blender.

If you are a beginner, I really suggest you Maya - it is the easiest one out there.
All of these tools can be torrented, so they are free.
For modelling details a lot - I recommend 3DS Max,
if you need to model an Island or any kind of a terrain - like a forest - then you should use 4D Cinema.
