Anyone from UK paying with crypto through PayPal?

Hi guys,

I am based in the UK. I need to pay my contractor who lives in Russia. The only way I can pay him now is in crypto as other payment methods for Russia are banned.

I want to do this:
- buy crypto on PayPal
- send crypto to the contractor

Is this possible? Has anyone done that? I am talking about a UK PayPal.

Sorry if this question is stupid or the solution is obvious. I have never bought/paid in crypto.
