I'm doing a 36-hour fast from food for detox and it's hard. I only have 0 calorie black espresso to speed up metabolism.

Now I do intermittent fasting on the regular eating the next day after 14 or 16 hours usually but when trying to extend the fast for health reasons like this time I find the real difficult part starts at about 20 hours from the day before. This hard window lasts for a few hours and if you can persevere that then it gets easier. You kinda stay present with the hunger and it does not affect you that much any more or at least in my experience.

Anyhoo, what your experience if you do fasting?

I've been eating between 6am-3pm every day for about five years, nothing too much but I think the consistency compensates

I haven't done it in a while, meaning a couple of years, but my only side effect is a nasty headache. When I do fast, it's only water, and I only do it for three days, but if I am doing a juice cleanse, I have done it seven days before.

I have been doing intermittent fasting for ten years {https://www.blackhatworld.com/seo/whats-your-diet-look-like.1507783/post-16514409}, and I feel I have seen some benefits, but I have been thinking about doing another juice cleanse as I think I need one. I just have to find the time to do it, as the headaches are pretty painful.

Anyhow, sorry for the long write but I do love this type of topic.

Very interesting. I get headaches and dizziness too at 20-24hrs from the day before without food and as far as I know it is a good sign of detoxing. I only managed to reach 2.5 days without food once and I almost fainted from the weakness at the end.

As long as I keep myself distracted, I can persevere.

Hours 0-12 are sleeping and morning routine. I normally don't eat breakfast, so I don't start feeling hungry until around lunch time.
Hours 12-28 have to be super busy. Usually start out with coding/writing, stuff where my brainpower actually matters. This only lasts a few hours, then I gotta find something else to do unless I want to go back and bug fix code written while in a hungry state. Running social media or doing client work is what I do during this period. Once I lose focus here, I should be at hour 20-22 or so. Chugging water and pacing helps with the hunger pains, and can buy me a little more time getting work done, but I mostly use this time for training/educating myself, learning something new that I may or may not be able to use in a future project. If I don't do that, then I am usually writing more small scripts that aren't relevant to my primary coding projects.
Hours 28-36 are sleeping again.

I don't fast often, and I don't really do it for a health reason, more like a "I don't feel like cooking and I ran out of fast-to-make foods" kinda situation. If I experience dizziness or headaches, I stop the fast, bite the bullet and just cook something.

it's funny because i'm deeply fasted right now and just saw this pop up... maybe it's a sign?? (lol)

yes, i fast. it is absolutely crucial i believe. not to get religious, but literally every holy book mentions it from the bible to the torah to the quaran. our ancestors knew it was something we should be doing, and at the risk of sounding woo woo, i've even used it to cure a few medical ailments of my own when doctors weren't of any help. you've got to think about it logically - having food whenever we want it is sort of a new age thing. humans have had to hunt and gather for most of their existence, and our bodies evolved as such. there's https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24434759/ for the benefits of it. you can look into autophagy, etc.

anyways, health aside, you should be doing it if you're serious about internet marketing. it will help instill self discipline, and that's why 99% of people fail in this space. wise man once said one of the best things you can learn is how to be comfortable being uncomfortable :)

100% agree. It's much easier if you get busy with something that keeps you in the flow, you just do not think about food.

Well, i have eaten only once a day for over 2 years now. Not a problem and really love it. Great to lose and maintain weight and it saves me a lot of time. I don't need to waste time looking for food several times a day like most people. And when i finally eat, i eat whatever i want. Usually a really big meal, while i watch something cool on YT.

From my experience in a 36hr fast I use too sleep for longer periods so the time passes quicker or whenever i get the feeling of hunger i drink water and continue doing my task at hand.
But drinking water was key for me.

Usually OMAD for me, although sometimes, usually on workout days, I eat 2 meals.

The last time I tried fasting for 70 plus hours I had the biggest headache ever.

Probably due to lack of electrolytes, mainly magnesium if I were to take a guess.

are you sure that it's healthy?

I do it sometimes. If you keep thinking about it, it gets really tough, but if you focus on some work it becomes really easy and time flies. Also, you get lots of focus when fasting for whatever reason.

If it's based on a scientific article, can you send URL ?

I do not have an article to share but a simple G search will do, there are endless resources. I'm sure chatGPT could also educate you pretty well.

It would be better if I didn't ask GPT if I should fast for 36 hours. I recommend that you act with scientific articles on such serious health issues.
