Anyone else not use Skype?

Recent conversation [abbreviated and paraphrased]:

Other: Add me to your Skype list.
Me: I do not do Skype because it is Microsoft spyware. Pick another solution.
Other: Well I could suggest XYZ but you would probably say the same. So how can we communicate.
Me: We can communicate right here in PM with you answering the questions I asked.

Other went away and never came back.

I do not do Skype. If another insists I do Skype, I refuse to do business with them.

I get skype requests, i accept them, i say hi and never hear about them again lol
 
I Fucking HATE skype for 2 reasons.
1. It's fucking god damn slow and sometime takes 5 hours to notify me someone has sent a message to me.
2. It can't even load the history properly WTF ?

I use "Line" application instead (also available for PC version) very fast + can browse FULL history + can block incoming request from unknown

I need to use skype again because of those BST else I would never use it.
 
I wasn't using Skype, but had to start using it. Almost immediately, I began getting requests to add them from some members here. I wait 10 minutes to see if they have anything important to say, then I block them. Lol. It's a great relaxant -- blocking! Never thought a single option can give you so much fun! :)
 
skype is good for business, and I think, use it to communicate with your clients is MUST now, but everything has a negative side,
 
I use Skype all the time, but I hate it. I do it out of necessity, because too many people demand using a crappy Microsoft service instead of decent software with nice use experience, reliability and a wider range of features. After all, all of those benefits are quite annoying, aren't they?
 
I have it and have one customer that thinks I should be sitting here all day answering his requests. I'm kicking myself for even agreeing to chat on skype. I started ignoring him. And, the more he asks questions, the more I put him off and answer hours later. It's a distraction and a waste of time. Use email ffs and I'll probably answer you faster.

People think you should drop everything and answer them when you're in skype.
 
Using it, don't use it as much as before. Really gets in your way when working. Also, don't like it. Don't really talk to a lot of people other then this forum.
 
I also don't want to use Skype but it seems that I have to.. I am not even able to ANSWER PMs until I have 15 Posts... :(

Man I hate that shit. Am I alone in this? I understand the business value of a service like Skype, but I hate being inundated with bullshit. Whatever happened to email, or PM's on BHW?

I honestly think that the Skype group threads should not be allowed, as it is borderline promoting other forums and taking traffic from this site. Of course, I'm a hypocrite in that aspect because of my Slack group, but whatever.

Skype is dumb. It's fine if you use it to keep in touch with family and friends but it gets really hard to keep track of everyone you add for work. It lacks basic functionality like tagging or notes for every contact. Are the developers too lazy?

Skype mastermind groups are a total waste of time unless I create one myself, hand-pick the members and keep it small. All the ones I've joined were full of idiots and quickly turned into cesspits.
 
Skype is just a tool. I wouldn't blame the tool, even yeah, I agree, it would need a tonne of improvements. Skype can be very powerful if used smart and with the proper connections.

I think real problem are the people that WE add or accept (mistake 1) that are not professional and we allow to disrespect our time (mistake 2).
 
I don't ever use it but it feels like I will be forced sooner or later...
 
i hate it when BHW sellers want skype details, i wanted to use a sellers social media service and their form had add skype id, if you didn't have skye then you couldn't fill out the form and do business.
When will BHW sellers realise that business can be done without skype
 
Personal use is totally acceptable.

Businesswise; not good enough and very unprofessional.

I rarely use Skype myself and I kind of agree due to it's owner, but freedom conflicts me on this one, ANyway, for some conversations it doesn't matter anyway, it can even be usefull to let the listeners "know" something.

In any case and sorry for the diversion of topic, but you need to check out the Unseen service based in Iceland. They offer a P2P 2048 encrypted webcam, call and chat services and the quality is even better then SKype. Seriously try it out. Iceland has very strict privacy laws also, still quite far up to the winner of them all, Panama, but still. And they jail bankers, which I enjoy knowing.
