From my recent experience, EMDs have been ranking quite easily and fast now. Created a few sites so far in 2015, the EMDs are doing much better than the non EMDs. Anyone else feel the same way?

I believe Google is just showing alot of love to brands now and as we know brands=EMD

Sorry for half assed thread, lol. Just want to see what others been experiencing

Recently i have come across quite alot of comments saying its better to stay away from EMD's because google don't like them. Or something like that i cant remember exactly, sorry for my half assed reply lol, a little tired just now.

But if your seeing good results then i suppose what i read is bullshit.

Not finding the same on my end. Bit of a pain in the ass really. I can still rank them well, but it requires a bit more care. They certainly don't have the....umph they had back in the way. Oh well : )

I've been reading these "Google doesn't like EMDs" comments for years now. The funny thing is that Google does seem to favor them.

I haven't tried ranking any EMDs recently, although I've actually been noticing that EMDs have been more a bit more prevalent in the SERPs lately for many of the keywords that I've been doing research on.

Even when everyone was complaining of EMD and google penalty,i never ever found any issues with EMD. I still have more than 100 websites ranking only because of EMD. They are what they always used to be

Here is the time line for EMDs:
a long time ago: very effective
    a while ago: completely ineffective
    recently: kind of effective
There was never a "penalty" for emds. they just lost their power. but having them has never penalized a site.

I agree, most likely when you were hit with emd, it was not because of the domain name but the use of keyword too many times including in the domain name

Who says Google dosen't like EMD. If you put out great content and backlinks on them, then no one can stop you from ranking high. No even Google (LOL)

EMDs still work well for me but maybe not quite as well as a few years back. I think alot of the people who think they were penalised for having an EMD were actually being penalised for over optimization. If you have a keyword phrase in your domain and your site is heavily optimized for the same keyword phrase then you're going to have problems.

It seems that Google will rotate the algorithms.

Around october 2013 they hit EMD's hard, then late 2014 the EMD's started showing up again in SERPs.

I don't like EMDs anymore, except the one word ones. I had my fair dose of penalties and deindexed sites because of using EMD.

    Obviously his own fault.

I have a ten year old EMD I've been building, haven't noticed any changes in the last several months.

    Brands = EMD?

What the hell made you think that bs? Brands are the polar opposite of EMDs. Brands are Best Buy, Xerox, Home Depot, Lowes, Gucci, Abercrombe, Pepsi, Nike, Reebok, Sprint, Comcast, Geico, Home Advisor, Angies List, Yelp, etc etc.

The most popular brands in the world generally don't have 1 relevant keyword in their name.

That's the whole reason companies have to brand in the first place. You create a short name then BRAND IT for a respective niche.

From what I've been seeing Google has always been on the path of pushing brands to the top. Often times to an extent that makes no fucking sense whatsoever. I have a big brand from NY ranking for NJ based keywords that has not a single thing to do with the niche or industry. The page literally has 1 word in the title but it's a muti definition type word that has 0 to do with what it's ranking for.

Yet that 1 brand page is outranking about 100-200 PMDS and EMDS that are directly relevant to that industry.

Google's boner for brands is so long and so hard it is ejaculating irrelevant sperm laced content into niches that have not a single fucking thing to do with what the brand is even about. You'll see that happening for big brands but never with an EMD. Cause google knows brands got the money, trust and respect. However, domains like: "http://www.buy-the-best-online-viagra-in-the-united-states-of-america-2015.com" ... not so much.

Not saying that EMD's can't be useful. They just don't have a very good history of trust.

Where do you find the best EMD's - any good provider here on BHW maybe?

Im with old mate above. I had numerous emd's a few years ago that got smashed in the serps and had a clean back-link profile. I only use parasites now and piggy back of their "trust" not a month old emd.

The way I see it, EMD's just give you a little less 'wiggle-room' with respect to over-optimization. They still seem to work just fine, you've just gotta' treat them a bit different.
