Hello,
I've been racking my head about this and done some research on cold emailing prospects. One of that section of prospects are owners of non-responsive websites.

From the little I've seen, when asking myself why these guys do not have a better website interface, I figured:

  1. Sentimentality: The website was created by owner or someone they know, and they are attached to it.
  2. Not needed; they really have no need for mobile traffic or view their websites as an online business card, with no care of SEO or advertising online.
  3. They don't know? This one I find the least likely or not sure how they can escape the mobile revolution.. They shop online, converse online. But I figure some people really don't know any better yes?
Has this been your experience? Or do you still consider them worth while? Please share your thoughts. :)

You should consider 4. Can't afford it (money and/or time of working with a developer about all the details). I would offer a full package of social media, seo, responsive, business online presence (google maps etc) so they do everything at once and for a lower cost than each one by one, more time spents with different agencies

Wow, yeah, knew I was missing a point. Thanks for the advice, I will look into that. Have you had any experience offering such?

One thing that does worry me is pricing..

To my experience it is always better to offer full package than small gigs. If you let a business owner know that you are capable of everything related to online presence he or she will be more willing to make business with you. On the other hand it is better for you not to multitask with many clients, as you become more productive and can generate more from less client leads.

To add I always found it better for me to work within the same environment as I would do more advanced market research and brand building.

Here in Sweden taxes make up 60% of the price and I find it extremely hard to make business on low amounts, so yeah it works best for me to stick with big whales (above medium sized businesses, not those who already have a team who take care of these)

For example I work with modeling agencies because they have too many people to manage and it means more work for me with the same cient and I offer 75% of what they need to build an outstanding online presence.

Read my previous post on how to get clients and how to persuade them.

60%???? That's insane!!. I see what you mean though, especially about targeting above medium sized businesses, which will involve serious niche and market research. I don't plan on offering to my local companies though, but to the European market.

Such people belong to the most intial phase of thier Business and still consider the traditional approach for marketing, hence such responses may come.

I had the same experience.

If you go to guide & educate them then it tales time which has cost as per Business perspectives but won't going to get back ROI; at least till the time their Business makes good growth and they intend to hire you back.

Though, I try to guide people for such small issues and work for them even it has no profit. I believe it is our Market/Industry and as long as you spread the awareness, you will get results as solution

My questions is how do you find these websites? They are very rare, and I don't encounter many non-mobile responsive websites. Do you have a method to finding them?

"Cold emailing prospects" as you call it is bound to be a huge waste of time, unless you're set-up to extract the few and far between pennies lying on the bottom of an ocean of spam.

The people who actually try (and supposedly succeed, though I personally very much doubt it) tend to sell arms-length, single-sale sort of things like pills, rather than relationship-driven, very involved things such as custom software development & management. There's a reason your spam folder on whatever email provider you use is not full of "I will fix your website" offers.
