I have a site that I'm getting a 3 on and I wanted to see if I could get the quality score bumped higher. Any tips? Thanks.

There are several factors that determine QS. Keyword relevance is one factor you can change. There are other factors that effect the score like click thru rate (CTR), and age of campaign; that you have less control over. One trick to increase CTR is to buy the keyword for your domain. It will cost pennies and will increase your CTR dramatically. This only works for ecommerce sites or sites that have return customers.

The landing page should be relevant to the keyword you are buying. Title tag, H1 tag, ALT tags, and page name (mykeyword.html) should have keyword. Content should have proper keyword density. Google onsite seo and you will find more info.

Create optimized landing pages for each keyword. You may want multiple landing pages for each keyword and do split testing. You should easily be able to get your score up to 6 or 7.

Quality score's BIGGEST factor is their CTR which usually is a good indicator of relevancy (as the user would be more compelled to click if the ad matches their query). Depending on what you're current CTR is relative to what Google thinks your CTR should be, I bet raising just that alone would boost your quality score for that keyword.

I do PPC for a living working in education industry so it's pretty damn competitive and we noticed just working on increasing the CTR is enough to increase quality score.

To be honest, Google only looks at landing pages to make sure it's relevent enough, as long as the bubble next to your status says "Landing page quality: No Problem", you're golden (this is from Google Adwords Evangelist, Frederick Vallaeys back in 2010).

Hope this helps, if you want to tell me your keyword, PM me and I might be able to give some insight.

Thanks for the tips guys. There is one thing I don't understand though, what affects the QS when you first upload the site? Just the KW? B/c I've gotten a 4 right when I uploaded and what I did wrong. Thanks...
