Any tips for a newbie trying freebies?

Keyword research. Did you do it? Found keywords that are searched monthly and have low competition on them? That's your first job to do. You won't receive traffic just like that, with a finger snap. If you want to go white hat on this article writing, promoting your squidoo lens have to be the way to direct yourself to. Though it's time consuming and boring to do, so I wouldn't suggest that.
Get some twitter accounts, make some facebook profiles and promote the product itself, why do you need squidoo lens? Make a wordpress looking website. And promote it.

I've made keyword research I'm working on "freebiejeebies", "freebiejeebies scam" and "freebiejeebies review" (I'm ranking good for this last one), all are low competition. I don't have problems with making black hat, but I don't have many funds and I'm basically a noob too.
I already have a twitter account with more than 2000 followers, but everytime I drop a link there noone clicks it.
I've actually started with a wordpress blog, but the squidoo lens was giving me more conversions with less traffic, so I've ended up buying a domain redirect from the blog domain to the lens, (cause I was receiving some traffic on the blog but with no convertions at all).
Anyways nothing seems to work I get few traffic and now a days no convertions at all.
