There are two popular ways: 1. making money off of people losing money paying off Bitcoin loans and 2. making money off of people losing money in Bitcoin gambling:
- BlockFi offers BTC, ETH and GUSD lending. You can open an interest account and get a 6.2% yearly interest on balances of at least 0.5 BTC, 25 ETH or $2500 GUSD.
- freebitco.in can act as a wallet with a 4.08% yearly interest on balances above 0.00030000 BTC. I personally wouldn't trust a centralised third-party myself, and freebitcoin basically make their money off of people losing money while gambling. At least have a history of paying out.

I used to use poloniex lending but idk if that is still a thing anymore. I am in NY so poloniex is not allowed here, but I think I remember reading them wanting to stop the lending.
It seems that Bitfinex, Bitmex, and Poloniex are the options currently on that site.

For what you are looking to do, you would have to venture past bitcoin into proof of stake coins or masternodes. I am in one currently, Snowgem (XSG), that costs 10,000 xsg (approx. $650 currently), to yield ~44% return of coins.

It cost $5 for each VPS you will need to setup the masternodes. It is super volatile since its a rank 900+ coin, but its the best way, I think, to earn while holding at a bit of a risk with a heavy reward when the alts start pumping again.
Another coin that I have made great money from 2 separate times because I hit it right, is Clam coin. Clam coin is a proof of stake coin, but to make it easier, I invested in a gambling site (https://just-dice.com/) that also stakes the coins while you are invested, on top of being the 1% house edge. I turned 550 clam coins into 850 coins over the course of about 14-15 months, on top of the coin going up a lot. There was a massive sell off recently, so you could have a nice entry, or sit on the sidelines a little longer until it starts to stabilize.
If you don't want to stray away from bitcoin into other cryptos, I guess I just wasted time posting this =P
