Any good protective computer glasses?

I had the same problem as you. My eyes were "burning"and itching after 5 minutes after I sit down to work. I couldn't work anymore, so I wen't to a local glass store and explained them my problem. They said I should take anti-reflex glasses and I asked for the most expensive cause I didn't want to risk my eyesight.
They offered Zeiss lenses with some 20-30 different layers of protection (don't have a clue what they talked about but it sounded great)

I decided to take a shot (with frames it was around $150). I took the cheap frame (around $30) and expensive lenses. Few days later they called me to pick it up, I came home to try it out and believe me....you will be able to stare at your screen all day long, you won't feel a thing. The moment you put those glasses on the head the problem is gone.

I also installed this little program that everybody is talking about, but without good glasses you're on the road to damaging your eyes.

Personally I think these protective computer glasses are pure marketing hype.

Fastest way to help reduce eye strain is to have a high refresh rate of over 60Hz and use a TFT or flat panel monitor.
Also make sure your eyes are level with the middle of the monitor screen (this also reduces neck strain too).

Gunnar seem good but then any lens that has an anti-reflective coating on them will suffice in reducing eyestrain and glare not only from a computer screen but also while you drive at night. The main function of these lenses are to neutralize the splitting of white light when it hits a surface into its component 7 colors (vibgyor). An anti-reflective lens will aid in neutralizing the spillitn up of white light and allow pure white light to enter into your eye thus reducing strain.

I would suggest you visit an optician and ask him for any good AR Lens this can be from Zeiss, Essilor Hoya etc all these 3 companies have excellent anti reflective lens coatings.

I have been in the optical industry for the last 17 years and i can vouch for those lenses.

I've checked Zeiss, Essilor Hoya as well, but Gunnars looks like a better investment. I dunno why, probably they are better at marketing lol. Checked reviews online and most of them are fifty fifty , some say it works for them, others say it was a waste of money. So, is there any more people who own/ed Gunnars?

P.S. thanks again to everyone who shares their ideas and experience :nemoflow:

Received my glasses few days ago and must admit they not only greatly improved my vision but also anti-reflective coating seems to do wonders - no more eyestrain whatsoever. The only issue is that while working with them lines appears not straight (laptop bezel, text etc. looks like lifted 5-10 degrees). Is it my brains adjusting to the glasses or is there something wrong with the glasses itself?
