Any examples of a successful press release?

Inspired by a similar thread, I saw a few people saying they've ran successful press releases that have been picked up by large media outlets. I've written some releases, but never got this sort of exposure. Does anyone have any successful press releases they'd be able to share?

If not, does anyone have any tips?

If you are writing a PR and just posting it on one of the free PR sites, odds are it won't go anywhere.

Typically you have to pay to have it syndicated so that it gets picked up properly. The PR service
providers in the marketplace can offer that for you if that is what you are looking to do.

Google this: "PR Newswire"

Typically this is the best service to use. PR Newswire is the service most public traded companies or large companies use. Its costly but you can get listed in places like Google News, Yahoo News, Bloomberg, HUffington Post etc. Also by Googling that service you will see some good examples of various releases.
